Is the Spartan brand now considered national?

I am noticing more and more Spartan gear popping up, being worn by kids and adults who have no connections to the school what so ever...in the south. In Austin, outside of the 4 major Texas schools, Michigan State gear is probably the most dominant college team gear I see.
With that said, and the fact that our gear was 4th worldwide in sales last year behind Texas, ND and Michigan, are we ready to truly embrace the Save-A-Lot Spartan?

I live in GA (obviously) and have never seen anyone wearing Spartan gear without affiliation to the school or state...

Worldwide. Not national. And I think that has something to do with our basketball team and Magic Johnson.

Austin also has one of the biggest MSU ALumni Associations in the country.Go to Third Base for a football game and check out the green and white.

I would argue selective memory. You remember more MSU gear sightings than other random schools. Also, you are more in tune to seeing MSU things so you notice it more than you would notice if someone was wearing a south carolina hat or something. Just a thought.

I live in Cleveland and see people wearing MSU gear at least 3-4 times a week. Much more than UM or any of the smaller Ohio schools (Miami, Ohio U, Dayton, etc.). A lot of car stickers/flags too. You give a Go Green here and you'll get a Go White back.

tJYD, how do you know these people don't have an affiliation with the school? Do you ask them? I don't know about Save-A-Lot Spartans, but I think it's great if non-alums are embracing MSU. I just don't know how you know if a random person rocking Spartan gear on the street has connections with the school or not.

I don't thjnk more people are wearing it, but I will say that more people seem to recognize the Spartan head logo and notice MSU more in general.
While two pretty good seasons (in terms of national relevance) is nice, having far and away the best play in college football (maybe all of major sports) in each of the last two years has had a huge impact on our visibilty and recognition.
