If you sell off a little here and there and reinvest into other areas immediately you avoid capital gains taxes for the time being, kind of like turning the money made off of the sale of your house into the down payment on the next one.

I picked up some more shares at 581 yesterday. Limit order went through just before the bell closed.

Doing pretty well today... (no jinxies, no jinxies)

The majority of mine were bought at $385ish. Back in 2003 I was looking at picking up some AAPL at $70, but I didnt because I only had like 3k to invest and it would have chewed through without getting enough shares...boy was that a bad decision. I think i made 2% on the other stuff before selling off to pay off credit card debt. Had I bought even 10 shares back then Id be in the black for $5300 on a $700 investment....whoops.

Did you mean to say it's not too late to short Apple?

Buying today was the smart move. AAPL is up 5% in aftermarket trading on reports that revenues exceeded expectations.

Damn, do I sell this morning and walk away with a cool grand from a 1 day investment or should I wait for the Iphone 5! I feel dirty owning Trevors stock.

It is down 11.25% over the last 30 days, and taking a beating so far today too.

Closed today at 530 and has been shaky at best over the last 30-45 days.

The whole market has been brutal the last 2 weeks.

But that deserves a clawback to 4-star and beyond - for honesty, admitting you did an investment BOHICA. What does the wifey say? That showdown can be worse than armchair advisors here or anywhere else..

The market isn't going to come back until we see additional QE from the fed. That's the only thing that's been supporting this "recovery" for the past three years. Two rounds of easing and twisting has artificially sustained it. Good news: I would be surprised if we don't see QE3 (whether under that name or not) before the end of June (depending on market conditions). Bad news: The effectiveness of QE is rapidly disintegrating. We can't take much more before we start to see inflation get out of control, and when that point hits, the fed is going to have a big decision to make (deflationary depression to correct a decade's worth of credit and malinvestment, or runaway inflation).
