AAPL has been on shaky ground since its initial run up to $600. (Basically when this thread was started) Markets in general haven't been that great the last 3-4 months.

As much as you chaps try to rejoice in what you believe is my loss, I've more than made up for this play with google,disney, yes yahoo, Johnson and Johnson and bidu.

Wasn't too long ago when the thought of AAPL being at 600 was crazy.

APPL at $575 looks like a good buying opportunity to me. I don't think we'll see a run up like we did over the last few years, but I don't think it's topped out either.

Feel free to bump this thread and call me out at a later date for being wrong, since this is the internet and we can't have a discussion about stock without lots of "I told you so's".

I'm not buying AAPL right now, but that has nothing to do with my "thesis".

572 was another great reentry point. If Apple wins this lawsuit against Samsung they will pummel the Android partners with another lawsuit. Apple wins again and the stock is flying

Here's my scientific, wild-assed, guess.

Three of the most significant reasons for the recent AAPL quarterly earnings miss:
1) many iPhone buyers are waiting for version 5,
2) recent deals worked out in China with China Mobile haven't yet surfaced in earnings, and
3) recent approval to sell iPad in China hasn't yet surfaced in earnings.

All three of these should correct by year's end. Apple products are remarkably sticky with surveys showing a high percentage of current customers planning to purchase a future version. However, it's an open question how long Apple will be able to charge the carriers steep subsidies for the iPhone, with competition from Samsung and Google heating up.

Bottom line: Apple earnings, hence stock price, should significantly grow in the next 12 months or so. After that, reevaluate, especially looking at customer acceptance of rumored new products thought to be in the pipeline, and any movement in profit margins and sales of iPhones in particular.

You guys think it hits 700 this year? I gambled on their last earnings release and bought a whopping 4 shares and basically want to wait for 700. I think our last pop reflects the new iPhone coming out already so not sure how it is looking.

If Best Buy popped up to 24-26 I would short the shit out of that. Borders all over again.

I've been wondering the same thing. I still think it will hit 700, but I don't know when. I wouldn't be surprised if it hit 650 shortly and then had a little sell.

The biggest question I have is how is the price going to change when the iPhone5 is released next month. I tend to follow a buy on news sell on rumor philosophy and I'm worried that it will fall a little bit next month.

I'd totally forgotten about that.

Seriously thinking about selling this week and perhaps look to buy back later.
