No. "Chink in the armor" is not a racist statement. However, it lacked taste considering that an Asian was in the photo that accompanied the headline and it could be inferred that the intention was malicious in nature. If they used the word "Crack" instead, the message would have been the same and there would be no outrage over it.

I honestly have never heard of that. I am not around many racists.
Not around any asians either so I would not have any reason to know. That's really dumb to get suspended over it. I thought it was a dumb comment because Lin is doing rather well. Gosh, how much of a P*ssy do you have to be to get offended when a word is being used in proper context? It does remind me of a conversation I had about faggots though. I used it in a literal sense ( a bundle of sticks) to make a point that it has been misused as a slur by today's standards. (Then clearly explained what I was talking about and that slang is a misuse of words) I got banned for a day.
I never really went back. Words are not the problem, it's the spirit in which they are intended. Chink Chink Chink Chink Chink.... It doesn't mean anything to me other than a weak spot in armor. If you take it as an insult then that's YOUR fault. If someone took that offensively on the ESPN broadcast then they are a disgrace to Asians. Most of the popular fighting methods today were developed in asian countries. I doubt they developed that by getting hurt with words.

I can't think of another word to use other than long ones that don't fit a broadcast. You have to look at it as a racial slur to even think it is one. Jeremy Lin does have a chink in his armor which is his only real flaw. (turnovers) Now IF there was a real intent to make it racial then anyone involved in that should be fired. I am completely against racism. I just think people need to lighten up when it does not appear to be used in a racial comment. If he were white and the exact same headline was used no one would think anything of it, but just because he is asian and there are slurs it is taken a totally different way. He speaks English better than 80% of the country, and is a fine American. There would be no real reason to play a racial slur card here. Sorry if I sound ticked off I just had to deal with a douchebag so it may sound worse than I wanted.

The TO's are my only issue with his hype. I hate how most of the talking heads omit this from their discussion (d*ck-riding)
Great story, though. It's hard for me because I know that when Melo returns from his groin injury, Lin will be taking fewer shots (FAR fewer) - FTR: I don't necessarily agree with this.
Draymond Green, Magic Johnson, and Oscar Robertson are the only players to have two triple-doubles in the NCAA Tournament.

People are amazed that a guy can come out from obscurity and do all these positive things. His weaknesses (turnovers) are not what make him interesting.
If they were losing, then the turnovers would be the story.
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
