James Still Torn Between Two

  • So we're going back two years? I could understand people whining and complaining after losing the conference title game, but two years ago MSU beat UW outright on the field and they got picked to the game. Call it what you want, but I call that bull****. MSU was robbed of a BCS game that year.

Shelton was very open about his excitement with the MSU program and after receiving an offer he was openly stating it was the one he was looking for. IIRC he was posting about how excited he was about the offer on Twitter. He made a post about how he loved MSU but his parents wanted him to at least look at Wisconsin, which he did, and shortly after committed to MSU.

I believe he visited both schools but he always seemed to have MSU on the top of his mind.

Wisky offered him like three full months after MSU did, and only after he basically forced their hand when he said he'd commit to MSU on his next visit (which he did, even with a Wisconsin offer in hand). I'm sure they'll test the strength of his commitment, but that pretty much goes without saying. The reality is that most kids don't flip.

Also, he was recruited as an ATH, not a pure RB.

We have a little less than a year to see how all this plays out.

We are a better team than Wisconsin in Football and in Basketball, we made 1 mistake by running into the punter and thats how yall got to the Rose Bowl. I vividly remember Keyshawn Martin running that punt return back for a touchdown but it was nullified by the penalty. We have been the best team in the Big Ten the past 2 years and were gonna keep that going this year. I was so happy when Oregon beat yall in the Rose Bowl because we were supposed to be there but yall had an OSCAR award winning Punter. We come to Camp Randall this year and we will win again

Another good laugh! Going to Camp Randall and winning this year? No more wise cracks from me tonight. Brewers have tied Atlanta and I think that would be more entertaining at this point.

No worries my friends I'll be back with more later.

    Have a good one!

Couldn't get a job driving moving vans for Beilema's former staff?

  • Hey...didn't we like, own you guys 3 times in basketball this year?? Not once or twice, but thrice??? Ya, you're right, Wisconsin is the best. Gholston and company will make themselves right at home this year. Don't you worry about that. Can't wait.

    Holden_It_Down

  • That's right you guys did get Prince. He's nice! He hits some monster shots!

T-Pain my friend you have some anger issues to deal with. Very hostile to a friendly guest. Can we all just get along? peace

Truth be told, MSU is my 2nd favorite football team in Big Ten. Can't say that for basketball team, but I do like their football team. They're very similar to Wisconsin and I really enjoy the budding rivalry. I don't hate (football) MSU like I hate OSU. I hate the basketball teams equally.

No anger there.... Just one man's opinion.

Nothing but time. I'll do you one better, Shelton will be a Badger too. Similiar to the way we took Gordon back from Iowa.

Funny you say that - turning Gordon has only helped out the Spartans. Gordon's flip played a role in Mcail McCall decomitting from us and going to the Hawks, which was a blessing since he got kicked off their team last year. Having no RB's in the 2010 class and with a strong chance that Le'veon Bell will leave after his Jr year, Shelton will get to eat as an underclassman.

Your caveman coach rides one RB and keeps him in during blowouts. Lots of opportunity for playing time there. You have a Heisman caliber RB but your coach is such a buffoon he's been calling him Monty all this time when its really pronounced Mon-tay. Its impersonal, cut throat clan out in Vadger land where the Spartans roll as a family.

The Vadgers took Gordon and another 4* RB from the same Kenosha high school last year so the RB pool is deeper in Madison. Caveat is your staff of ogres were blind to not recognize that a 6' corner with sub 4.4 speed from that school is a physical talent, so we're happy to build Trae Waynes into the next Darqueze Dennard.

Honestly, because Wisconsin is so deep at RB, losing Shelton wouldn't hurt as bad as losing out on all 3 of the in-state DEs.
There's room for 2 DEs and If I had to choose I would choose the Chikwe and James. I think Bosa is a long shot, and Natter is closer to becoming a Spartan than Chikwe and James.

I don't agree with keeping star players in when the game is well in-hand, but I believe Coach B was making a push for Heisman votes for Ball when he allowed Ball to stay in the game. Which wasn't too often as I remember the back-ups were in late in the 4th quarter of games. James ran for over 700 yards last year as a back-up, so obvious he got touches. Gordon should get his share of carries this year as well.

    I'm excited!

    redrock1

  • I think Chikwe is actually the best prospect of the three. Pretty sure he will commit to Wisconsin. I would expect James too also. They are both from Brookfield which is a Badger Alumni hot spot. Lots of kids from those schools end up at UW so if familiarity and distance have any weight I would think they would be Badgers. Natter is a more interesting case as while I think he does like UW he also seems fairly interested in other schools. I would say Nebraska is the current leader with him though I claim no insider information. I think Shelton stays committed to MSU. Gordon committing to Iowa always seemed a little curious and when things fell apart their with the suspensions for drugs and guys getting kicked off the team it was not a surprise he switched to UW. I think he is actually the most talented back on the team; I've never seen someone who just glides when running like him. Whatever ends up happening I would expect that 1 of the 3 DEs to be available. Which one is best is up for argument as they all appear to be 4 star quality players.

McCall didn't decommit. We pulled his offer after his coach told him he should look around. Then he took a trip to Iowa and didn't even get offered until after a couple of their other targets fell through.

  • The Badgers are likely to take all 3 DEs. Nebraska with Natter is going to be tough. Chikwe all Badgers, unless Stanford comes calling. There isn't anything better that MSU offers than Wisconsin. Program, team, academics, school, stadium, chance at the nfl, soon to be facilities etc. Some instaters might be miffed that they didn't get offered earlier or for the wrong spot. Similarly, no Michigan high schooler is going to go Badger due to distance and home-state love.
