So this guy (I assume the writer is a male, although his name is Jamie and his understanding of basketball may imply female) lists off Cleaves credentials, which are off the fucking charts, than leads his point on why he'd pick Burke because he "willed" his team to victory in 2 conference games, including one against a below-average opponent?
Look, I respect what Burke has done to this point. There's no question he was the catalyst behind most of their wins this year. And yes, I won't debate that he carried his team on his back in their last 2 games and deserves a lot of credit. But they're still JUST conference games. HUGE difference between doing that in one year, compared to a player that did it for 3 fucking years, including the NCAA Tournament. Burke wills his team to victory against fucking Purdue? How about Cleaves manning his team the fuck up in games against Syracuse and Iowa State en route to a Natty? Or busting his head open after running into a 7 foot brick wall against Oklahoma, and then staying in the game to gut out another W in the tournament? All games that REALLY mattered.
Cleaves' intangibles are so off the charts, they can't even be appreciated to the level they deserve. Trey Burke is so far off from accomplishing what Cleaves did, it's laughable, and I take it as an insult that because one guy has had a solid season (to this point), he's even being compared to an all-time great, let alone being called a better player.
This guy/chick can kiss my ass.
