Jared Sullinger red flagged by NBA doctors

Ohio State Buckeyes big man Jared Sullinger has been medically red flagged by NBA doctors, multiple league sources told ESPN.com on Monday.
Sullinger, who is projected to be a lottery pick in the 2012 NBA draft, underwent a series of medical tests at the NBA draft combine a week ago. According to sources, the doctors who looked at Sullinger were concerned with Sullinger's back.

I don't know what it is about those OSU big men, but they're not very durable. Hard to see him getting drafted with a report like that...he'll get picked up by some team, but I can't see any long term deals or big signing bonuses for him.

I wouldn't have used a first round pick on him before hearing this. Now I probably wouldn't consider drafting him at all. Day Day will have a considerably better pro career.

I agree. Mostly because rookie first rounders have guaranteed contracts for three years set by the league with no signing bonuses.

doesn't surprise me he missed some games this year with back spasms pretty badly. Sucks for him though seems like a good kid even if he did cry to the refs a lot. Hell that alone makes him ready for the NBA>
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.

He's still scheduled for a number of workouts with teams. He performs well, he'll still get his shot. If they start cancelling his workouts so they can look at someone else, then he's in trouble.

I harbor less ill will toward the guy since MSU shut his ass down in Columbus and ended up beating them in the B1G tourney, and the fact that they managed to rep the conference in the Final Four. Plus I think Day Day has a pretty good rapport with him. I hope things work out for him in the end, even if he is a whiny bitch.

Didn't Mario chalmers have a heart condition everyone was worried about, but he's doing fine. It's really unfortunate for Sullinger, but I bet if his workouts are good someone will take a change on him.

He will still be a lottery pick. Under the new collective bargIning agreement he can only get a 3 year deal anyway so there isn't anymore risk than drafting some unproven european and about 5 of them get picked in the lottery every year.
