Alrighty then...
You're right, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. But when you make claims that don't make any sense, and then refuse to explain them or back them up with any evidence, people are going to say you're full of shit, like you are here.
I'm sorry that being asked to explain the stuff you post makes you so uncomfortable. One solution would be to admit when you're wrong. Another would be to not talk out of your ass in the first place.

How many times do people have to explain it to you. Whitlock has a history of writing articles about racism/problems with racism, yet here he is making a racist comment.
Why is that so hard for you to understand? Do you even know the meaning of "hypocrite"?

Reminds me of the time Jemele Hill wrote an article about Eric Smith being told in high school that he couldn't play in the secondary because he was white... and she played it off like a light hearted little funny thing. I wrote her and asked how she would have treated the same story if a black player had been told he couldn't play QB because he was black. She responded that "it wasn't that type of article." Yet, she had written about racial issues dozens of times when the coin was flipped, it was selective scrutiny... in my opinion her viewpoint was that it was only racist if it was happening to a minority, but when it happened to a white person... it was just funny.

*sigh* How many times do I have to explain that simply discussing racism while making a joke like this is not an example of hypocrisy? Read what he actually says and writes about race. He *doesn’t* say that nobody should ever make a joke about race. He *doesn’t* attack people for making jokes like this. If you can provide examples of him doing that, go ahead and I'll change my position, but I haven't seen it.
Again, remember the Rutgers situation, when virtually every black writer in America was calling for Imus’s head? Whitlock was the one being level-headed and telling everyone to calm down. Yes, he called it a bad joke (it was). But he also said that jokes are not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and people who go nuts over them are missing the point. That’s completely consistent with making a joke like this.
Hypocrisy is defined as claiming to have morals or virtues that you don’t actually have. Again, what moral or virtue has Whitlock claimed to have, that he’s violating here? If someone can answer that question I’ll join the chorus calling him a hypocrite.
And to be clear, I’m not arguing with anybody who’s offended, or thinks it’s a bad joke. You have a right to your opinion. But hypocrisy is a strong claim, and it shouldn’t be thrown around so lightly. I don't understand how this is such a controversial position.
EDIT: In response to Rex. Meant to quote it.

Jesus, trying to explain something to you in simple terms is like trying to teach a dog how to walk backwards.
You keep referring back to his IMUS article as if it's the only racism related article he's ever written...which is beyond laughable. This is the same guy who wrote an article saying anyone not rooting for the US olympic basketball team was racist. The fact is, he's written SEVERAL articles related to racism, yet here he is making a racist comment. He's a fucking hypocrite...End of story.

More insults and no actual concrete examples. Nice.
I'm sure it is tiring repeating the same thing over and over again, but it's not my fault you're doing that. All I'm asking for is an actual example. A link. Something.
I'm not trying to change anybody's mind, I just think that if you're going to throw out a very serious claim like calling someone a hypocrite, you should back it up. Still, nobody has shown examples of Whitlock taking offense to race jokes, or anything even remotely similar to this situation. It's just, "He writes about race/racism, therefore he's not allowed to make a race joke." It's like a broken record.
It's just an extremely shallow understanding of hypocrisy. That's all I'm saying. Insult away.

Your "example" was a grossly inaccurate description of one of his columns, which is exactly what I expected. And even if your description were accurate, it's not an example of hypocrisy because it has absolutely nothing to do with race jokes.
Why is it so hard to actually provide examples, if his hypocrisy is as obvious as you keep saying it is? If it was such a slam dunk, everybody wouldn't get so damn uncomfortable when challenged to back up their claims.
The fact of the matter is Whitlock has been consistent in his stance that race jokes aren't a big deal and people should chill out about them. He may say things about race that you don't like, but he's not a hypocrite.

They weren't exactly light jokes either, but there was a line. Like I think the more popular ones with the 2 ethnic groups ( That THEY liked) I mentioned were " How do you start a mexican parade?" and "What runs faster than a black man with your TV?" I can honestly say that my African American friend laughed harder at that 2nd joke than anyone. BUT there is a line that is racist. He was kicked out of middle school because he got into a fight with a kid that called him a N*gger. Needless to say no one ever got close to calling him that even in jest. Personally, I think a lot of "racism" is overblown today. I am really sorry about segregation and all that crap. I totally missed out on that generation so I don't have the negative feelings built up. However, I can understand the sensitivity of the issue of that and even of the original slavery. I think the most overlooked thing about slavery is that the Africans started the slavery of their own people. When there was a war they would take prisoners and make them slaves. A lot of times they had very little value for human life and killed slaves if they felt like it or they did something wrong. That went on for hundreds and possibly even thousands of years.
