So being the big ten's winningest program over the last 3 years isn't good enough for you? We're obviously getting the right kind of players.

I want sustained success. The block got alot tougher and you know it. If you get a kid on campus you think you have a shot at getting a commit from, you help him make up his mind on the spot. Whats not to be sold on at MSU? Its not like your selling him a shitty product.

This isn't sales though. It's infinitely worse to have someone commit and then decommit later which completely skews the scholarship numbers. Se'Von Pittman screwed us last year this way and left us scrambling to find a last minute DE option which we never found.

If the kid is sold on MSU, then going home overnight to talk to their parents should not change anything.

People think that kids have no opinions or free will when it comes to recruiting. If we're not getting them it's not because the kid wants to go somewhere else, it's because our staff didn't sell them hard enough.

Last year we had 0 commits until the Spring game on April 27th or something. Now we have 5 with 2 full weeks to go till then. Jesus Christ. We are ahead of every Big Ten school except PSU, OSU, and UM, all of whom have fairly new head coaches and/or are traditional powers.

We all agree on the block getting tougher and the desire for sustained success. But there are 9 months left to recruit and it's not a finite search. There's a full season left of high school football.

1/3 of the class is already spoken for. Wouldn't you want to save a fair amount of schollies for talent that blossoms late?

How many times have we seen Dantonio grab a stud late who wasn't highly touted? After years of success, realize this is not luck, it's a gift.

What indication have you seen that would lead you to believe we won't sustain our current success? Take a couple steps back from the ledge and appreciate what you've got.

  • Has he been on campus before? I was thinking so but I could be wrong. That being said, even with the conservative approach coach takes I wouldn't see this commit on campus as an issue. Hell it almost seemed like he was coming to campus to commit with the hype.

Another "I loved it" without a commit and I'm gonna puke.

Oh look, more people who don't know jack shit are bitching about nothing.

We are going to get this guy.

Ok and how many kids have we lost because they sent them home to think about it? Don't agree with this risk/reward argument, but hey whatever makes you feel better about it. I really wish they would push for commitments on the spot with kids they really want.

And thats why you're at home sitting on a computer while Dantonio is making millions coaching a damn good football team. The only time people should start questioning coach D is when he starts losing games. At this point, that's not very likely.

I'm not saying blindly follow, I'm saying whatever he's been doing has worked extremely well for us, so it should be trusted.

Yes, as recently as late February.

Wouldn't that be considered a slap in the face by the person who is trying to commit?

Nope...apparently, Dantonio does this a lot. he wants recruits to think their recruitment over and be certain when they commit. he's got a good system.

Dude, give it a rest. I am 100 percent positive the fanboys have reported you to a mod complaining about how your thoughts that don't follow blind loyalty are hurting recruiting. You can only have one view on here now or they will ban you.

Except for Caleb Benenoh who committed without ever stepping foot on campus. Maybe the kid just hasn't made a decision yet and is still considering other schools. After all it is 10 months til signing day and he has many options looking at his offer sheet. He could still be holding out for the elusive OSU offer like many Ohio kids.
