Josh Hamilton is having a nice evening...

I really think this guy is destined to be dead by 45. Everytime he's lost his baby sitters he's had a relapse. When he retires the Rangers will stop caring about him and stop hiring a babysitter for him and he'll go right back to being a drugged out wastoid.

Another thing I can't stand with Hamilton is that he's "battling personal demons" and Miguel Cabrera is a "punk with off-field problems". The hypocrisy is amazing.

Maybe it's because one comes from Venezuela and the other comes from North Carolina, or it may not really be that sinister.

We'll see which one makes it past their 45 birthday.

Well, has Cabreba publicly admitted to an addiction like Hamilton has? An addiction is pretty much the definition of a personal demon, while someone who isn't an addict but repeatedly gets in a car after getting plastered is pretty much the definition of a punk.

If you're consistently affecting your life negatively through substance abuse, you're addicted. Doesn't matter how many people you tell, or if you even believe it yourself.

No one stays that hot for long, but as a Rangers fan, I hope he hits 50.

He's underpaid by his own doing. If it wasn't for the drug issues, he'd get Pujols money. I don't know if anyone is willing to risk that on him. Texas and their support staff is perfect place for him, but they know that too and will probably go 10-20 mill less than he would be worth without past issues.

If Cabrera started preaching about Jesus then the media would give him a free pass as they do Hamilton and call him a "great story."

Hamilton also has durability issues. He generally has at least one lengthy stint on the DL per year.

And while he's not that old, he's put his body through a lot more than most players his age.

He will probably get market value (20-25 million a year) but for a shorter timespan (5 years max).

Well look at Josh's story. He was a top draft pick who underperformed in the minors and as a result got on the path of drugs and alcohol. He got bounced around in the league and was about to be kicked out of baseball before the reds and eventually texas gave him a second chance. And hes made the most of it. He eventually and finally started living up to his top pick draft status while rising from the ashes

Cabrera on the other hand came up as a 20 year old rookie and started mashing right away. He was always known as a great hitter and a future superstar. But he got in drunk trouble more than once. And this type of story is pretty common in sports.

So people like Josh's story better because hes been through more and people love hearing about redemption and second chance stories. Cabrera is just your average superstar who has off the field problems. Nothing new there.

I am neither a tigers fan or a rangers fan, so from an unbiased POV Hamilton has a cooler story and hence is regarded as a better story. Plus him mashing the way he is doesnt hurt either. take off your tigers goggles, jesus
