Just got a MacBook Pro i5 for work

but I've always been a Windows guy and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Can one of you snobs inform me what I can do on this thing that I couldn't do before. Thanks in Advance.

Is it a 2011? Hope so, because my 2010 I5 is slow as molasses when trying to run Windows 7 in Parallels

My buddy Chuck is a former Windows guy who made the transition about 7 years ago. He's a serious developer (for Unix, not Mac per se) and he does lots of video work. He firmly believes that the Mac is a superior platform for user as well as developer or content creator. From what he tells me, you'll love Final Cut Pro.
He also believes, with me, that Steve Jobs is a genius and a tyrant, and that too many people are like the guy in this Onion piece who says if it's shiny and it's from Apple, he needs it.

I got a Macbook Pro a few months ago and I love it. I would never go back to a Windows. Instant on and off, easy updates, never freezes. its by far the best computer I've ever had. It will take a little time to get used to but you will love it guaranteed. I have never heard of anyone hating their Mac and going to to a Windows.

How much ram do you have alotted for the virtual machine? what programs are you running on win7?

I'm going to get an apple macbook pro today...my dell broke down on me because I dropped it way too many times on my tile floors. I hear Apple is impervious to viruses and is indestructible, so I'm going to buy one.

you will like it. i like mine, upgraded to 8gb ram and parallels runs better. Still, will probably upgrade when the newly redesigned pro's come out that hopefully have usb 3.0 and newer processors.

I would never get a mac desktop, however, the laptops are really nice. (still overpriced, but that doesn't negate the fact that they're nice)

Check out a program called jitouch. It adds a bunch of gestures commands to your trackpad. Quicksilver is a great launcher program too.
