Just lost everything on my iPod

I plugged my iPod (~20gb) into my computer that had a practically empty iTunes to grab a song from iTunes and put it on my iPod. I've done this dozens of times without problems. This time however it synced everything and erased my iPod. Is there any way to reverse this? I'm so depressed.

The same thing happened to me once. I called apple and they told me it was my fault not their's. They claim that it gives you the option of whether you want to erase everything or not. 15 minutes of cussing out that POS over the phone didn't help me any and there was nothing I could do. If you want to get back your music for free use an online converter and get it from youtube.

Same happened to me. You're screwed. It's not all bad though because I got rid of all the stupid shit on my iPod.

n00b. This is the way iPods have worked from day 1. If you could sync to any computer you like, then it would be the ultimate pirating machine.

This happened to me a few weeks back. If you havent done so already, do NOT reset your ipod to factory settings, this will delete everything. Chances are you music is still on their or atleast in an itunes folder hidden on your computer somewhere.
Go to google and type in 'recovering lost music on ipod' or something similar. There are sites that can walk you through the recovery process.
I was able to get all my songs back by doing this.

Or you could have used iPodAgent to bring you ipod songs/media to your computer BEFORE the sync erased it.
Where are the original files of the ipod? No backup?

There is commercial software that will recover your songs when iTunes screws things up.
I am a Windows user, not an Apple one, but I've recovered my songs straight as Windows files. My situation is probably not common, as the vast majority of my files in my local iTunes store are just MP3 files ripped from my own purchased CDs.
There are options. Do not give up hope.

Someone mentioned this above.....go to the computer with ITunes on it that you used originally and find the Itunes folder....it is there, trust me.

I feel bad saying this, because you know this now...but yeah, you can only sync up your iPod to one iTunes library. You can't hook it up to other iTunes libraries without erasing the library already on your iPod. But like it was said, you probably can still retrieve your old data.
