They look pretty accurate considering Helsinki is seven hours ahead of us.

It is, and good for him.

And God, I hate that website now. banghead

  • Abs made an impact right away against France, drawing the game's first penalty. On NBCSN now.

  • Abdelkader has drawn three penalties and Slater just scored. Petry is playing solid defense. Good showing from the Spartans so far.

  • Watching this IIHF game on t.v. vs. France right now, 6 to 2 USA with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd. I am amazed at how much better the game is on the Olympic sized rink....more room for skilled players to move...the NHL will never change, but the NHL game is not as interesting to me. Way too many goals the result of lucky deflections/bounces...in this game today, lots more open breaks and shots.

  • Jeff Petry scores on the delayed call drawn by Justin Abdelkader. 7-2 USA late in the third.

The extra ice certainly improves the game. NHL players have outgrown the 200x85 rink in both speed and size.

You can either go to 200x100 ice, which the owners would balk at due to the cost of converting their rinks and loss of revenue from less seating, or you can go to 4x4 play, which the players would balk at due to either the loss of jobs or the loss of ice time.

Yeah I think 4 on 4 ould change the gaem up too much (as far as penalties go, I think expanding the sides 5-10 inches on each side would help the game greatly I bet it would cause less concussions. even though the game would be faster you could see more out on the ice and less board play.

  • Are highlights available for this anywhere, or has NBC stonewalled us? Not sure why they are not replaying the game until 11:30 PM, when whatever daytime programming they have sucks.

    Batesianmimicry

  • Abs gets an early goal. 1-0 USA early in the first against Belarus, live on NBCSN.

    PRStoetzer

  • He also recorded an assist on the second USA goal. 2-1 USA.
