Watching this IIHF game on t.v. vs. France right now, 6 to 2 USA with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd. I am amazed at how much better the game is on the Olympic sized rink....more room for skilled players to move...the NHL will never change, but the NHL game is not as interesting to me. Way too many goals the result of lucky deflections/bounces...in this game today, lots more open breaks and shots.

The extra ice certainly improves the game. NHL players have outgrown the 200x85 rink in both speed and size.
You can either go to 200x100 ice, which the owners would balk at due to the cost of converting their rinks and loss of revenue from less seating, or you can go to 4x4 play, which the players would balk at due to either the loss of jobs or the loss of ice time.
