  • Even though they should be squarely on the outside looking in now, I've got this gut feeling that they will make the tourney, regardless of what happens the rest of the way. Much like the same college football teams are ranked in the top 10 each year, I feel like the committee is going to see the word "Kentucky" and over value the little bit they've done this year. And when they do make it, those of you who feel the NCAA is dirty and on the take will have a hell of a proof point to aid your argument. Thoughts?

I would absolutely love to see them sitting home, and read about the meltdowns in the slack jawed toothless fan base.

  • Don't care, only worried about Michigan State.

    Fuck Kentucky!

Edit:Wait a second, you are scared they are going to get in as one of the lowest ranked at large teams and then knock off your Vadgers in the first round in one of the 5/12 games aren't you?

    pray Please let this happen.

  • They basically have to beat Florida tomorrow or win the SEC toruney. Really bad resume.

  • right now they would be out. They won't put them in just because they are kentucky. A few teams that won the natty have missed the dance the next year.

If they beat FL at home, things will get interesting for them. The bubble is awful this year.

  • I don't know a whole lot about their season but have a feeling you will be correct. It would be "good for college basketball"

...actually I think the seeding process is pretty honest. But it wouldn't be hard for them to "play themselves in".

I like the fact that MSU (and UW) will have more successive tourneys than some of the biggest name programs.

Beating Florida might not be enough on its own anymore. The loss to Georgia was pretty awful.

Nice to see a familiar face around this dump. You better get out of here fast though, it is become more of the Little Brother Message Board than ever before today.

Agreed. But even though I'm not a conspiracy guy, I just have this weird feeling that they get in over some other more deserving programs.

Agreed. Pretty impressive to, in most years, simply know your team is going to be in. March is a hell of a lot more fun when you have the anticipation of the tournament. Not to mention, short of a miracle, the streak for texas will be over this year and UW will move up to the top 5.

  • Where are all the Calipari supporters? I thought he was such a great coach? Funny, we make the dance every year regardless of depth (2002 and 2007), or miscellaneous (2011), while that slimeball can't get it when this years crop of All-Americans aren't quite as good as last years.

Shockingly he hasn't spun at all. He threw himself under the bus saying he didn't do a good enough job of coaching.

  • They just missed the tourney a couple years ago so it's not like the committee hasn't kept them out when they deserve it.

This. I actually trust the selection committee's intentions and think they do a good job overall. If Kentucky loses to Florida AND doesn't win the SEC tournament and still gets in, then I would have to rethink that assessment.

The only problem with that is the selection committee does and should factor significant injuries into their selections and seeding. But if they don't know who they're analyzing then they wouldn't be able to do that.

UNC in I think 2000 got in because they were UNC

I think Kentucky gets in exactly because they're Kentucky, NCAA would rather have UK in than a lesser name bubble team

  • They are a non-factor even if they do make the tourney. I remember a few years ago we got in the tourney and people said it was on reputation alone. Big time programs bring in viewers.

Kentucky to the 2013 Dance = scUM's Sugar Bowl invite

As adults, we may as well teach our young people early on that life isn't about being fair or getting what's deserved, it really all about the $$$ and f***ing people in the process. The NCAA is living proof of this.
