Kids these days are soft

Besides, for elementary school kids, you can't be too safe these days. There's a lot of fkcking pyschos out there.

i would argue that isn't true any more than it was in the old days.

How old are these kids? For my kids' school, the parents of kindergardeners are requried to wait at the bus stop when dropping off or picking up their kids.

They vary elementary through middle school from what I can tell.

Yeah, whatever happened to the social aspect of gathering with the other Chittlins in the am at the bus stop? Some of my fondest memories of my old Michigan home/yard..

There was this bitch mom in my sub watching us at the bus stop. She had this stupid ass little pomeranian that never stopped barking with her. All of a sudden my best friends dog comes running around the corner. It was some big ass ugly mutt, but a good dog. My freind was all like "Shaba what are you doing here?" and then his dog goes and takes a chomp right in the middle of a pomeranian. Every one was all freaking out and I was hooting and holler cheering on my friends dog. Good times

    Agreed.

If you're worried about safety, walk to the stop with your kid. What I don't get is that if you have time to sit in a car until the kid's bus gets there... why not just drive them to school?

It'd be much better if it was the bitch mom that got a bite out of her mid-side..

  • Kids aren't soft. Parents these days are soft. Don't blame the kids for so many parents these days acting the way they do.

i think it has something to do with parents only having one or two children these days, versus having a pack in the past.

I know this has been discussed at length, but I needed a good rant.

In my subdivision, about 50% of the parents drive their kids to the bus stop (at the entrance of the sub) and let them wait in the car til the bus gets there. The parents then all do a u-turn in the road and drive back to their homes. It angers me to no end. Not only are they turning their kids into massive vaginas, but I also have to sit there and watch their u-turn spectacle when I'm trying to go to work. Kids are soft these days. I'm not some grizzled WW2 vet that thinks his generation was the second coming of christ either. I am 27 and I froze my ass off at the bus stop or walked to the damn school. End of rant.

    And I liked it!

And you would be right. All the media attention given to the nut jobs makes it seem less safer.

  • there's a woman who lives a a fancy wannabe gated condo community next to my office. Everyday as I'm leaving work she gets her range rover out and Im not kidding drives maybe 40 yards outside the gate to "pick up" her kid from the bus. It would take the kid less time to walk around the gate and into the building than it does to open the gate and put the car back in the garage.

This guy got to chill in mom's mini van while waiting for the bus. Probably made fun of the kids that had to wait outside too.

Man, I remember pretty epic games of 500 and King of the Mountain while waiting for the bus. My best week of elementary school ever was when I won three of five days at king of the mountain in 3rd grade. Got all the playground respect.

  • Kids today have a sense of entitlement, and its the parents fault. When you don't teach kids responsibility and do everything for them they expect it.

    I'm 26. I see both sides.

    A. That is pretty sissy. Until I got a car in HS I did the exact same thing at the bus stop. Froze until it got there. Many times I'd be in a dead sprint to try and make the stop as it was nearly a half mile from my house (seriously)

    B. I do understand parents being more concerned these days. Face it, we live in a world of sick individuals. A smaller child unattended at a bus stop could be easy prey. Never know.

+1, although I would say we had the same sickos 30 years ago when i was a kid, we just didnt have the media to tell us about it every day.

How about this: We give ribbons to the kids that get a ride to the bus stop. We give MMA lessons to the kids that walk to the bus stop. From there, we let fate take over.

My kids walk to the bus stop AND take MMA lessons. Bring on the (outdoor) thunderdome - two kids get on the bus, one kid leaves!

My kid won't be easy prey, she's going to have a 5 gallon pail of rocks she can throw at any weirdo that gets near her.
