agree 100% JMC.......Cousins had a MUCH better career than Osweiler against better competition....annoying. Here is an interesting article from espn.....skins cut Beck RIGHT after drafting Kirk...

  • Wow...calling out Shanahan

The Redskins' selection of quarterback Kirk Cousins in the fourth round will go down as one of the dumbest picks this franchise has ever made. DeMarcus Cousins would have been better. A fourth-round pick is nothing to take lightly. It's moderately high and ignores the team's needs which are, well, everything. They also effectively drafted competition for Robert Griffin III.

Sums up my feelings as well. Give me the keys to a franchise and I feel like I could do a better job than some of the real losers.

it's true...and RG3 has had concussion issues, and he's RAIL thin, but I would think Grossman is the backup: PERIOD. I feel for Kirk: this is not a good fit IMO

It's all moot if they don't fix their terrible offensive line.

They could have Joe Montana, John Elway, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning all rolled into one player back there taking snaps and it won't matter if they don't do something to fix their offensive line to give their guy more than .03 second to make a decision and/or TRY to establish a running game that can gain more than 100yrds in a game.

I really thought they had turned a corner with the Pierre Garcon get and this trade for RG3 but then to waste your other "high" pick on another QB is just totally asinine. I trust Shanny but this is a real head scratcher.

  • Redskins just released John Beck after taking Cousins. so no competition involved w/ a roster spot. Nice.

I'm not saying Cousins WILL beat RGIII out, I'm saying it COULD happen. It's happened in the past, it certainly will happen in the future somewhere.

DC traded up twice to get him and will spend eight figures on RGIII. If Griffin goes 0 for the Preseason, and has negative 500 yards rushing in the preseason, he will still start on opening day.

Meanwhile Cousins will be on the Hill solving the economic crisis, fixing our nations' schools, and solving that Middle East thingy.

I bet less than halfway through the season Rex is out the door or relegated to the practice squad. He sucks ass and noone in town wants him anywhere near the Skins.

That wuld not surprise me, shit.... He might be gone after preseason.... You dont want a pissed of veteran around your rookies, bring in a guy who accepts the number two roll and wants to be a mentor

They should bring back Donovan McNabb then.

  • Kirk will be as good as Kurt Warner in his prime someday. But hopefully he doesn't go through the grocery bagging phase to get there. I see him starting somewhere other than Washington in 4-5 years.

That will NOT happen to KC. He'd forget football and go to medical school before he'd bag groceries. He's a special guy, football or not.

  • I personally think Cousins will be a fine QB, potentially even an nfl starter.... But I think that he couldnt have been picked at a worse place. RGIII is going to be a beast in my book.

Hahaha, no. Definitely not in DC at least. And I'm not sure he will be a starter in starter in the NFL having come from DC sitting behind RG3 and at least next to grossman.

Kurt had-- Marshall Faulk, Torry Holt, Issac Bruce, and Hakim...
Kirk will never get that kind of talent around him in Washington.

I'm more of a Skins fan than Cousins fan and I think he got screwed and it has a good chance to fuck his career over. But he's not Kurt Warner.

  • This was an investment, plain and simple. He sits and learns from a pretty good developer of QBs in Shanahan. In a couple years, they will move him for a couple higher picks. Remember, they gave up a ton for RG3. They are going to have holes, and using a 4th for Cousins now and trading him for a 2nd/3rd later isn't a bad move. Plus, if RG3 gets injured or doesn't pan out they have another option.
