Kirk Cousins is having a nice seafood dinner...

  • ColonelAngus said...

My buddy that works at Mitchell's Fish Market in Lansing just posted on FB that Cousins is there having dinner with Mike Tomlin right now. I remember someone posting on here that they thought that would be a good place for him to end up. They must really be interested for Tomlin to come up here for dinner right? Please don't go to the Steelers Kirk!!!!!

Did you see a man eating shark at the seafood restaurant?

  • Fellow Steelers fan here. Yeah, I have defended Charlie Batch as a serviceable NFL backup on many an occasion, but he is getting on in years. And the Dennis Dixon experiment, while it showed some promise, for some reason appears not to have stuck. So while Big Ben is a top 6 QB, there's no backup. As you saw in the playoffs this past year, if he gets hurt, the team suffers. So if Captain Kirk is available in the third or fourth round, I think he'd be a great addition. And the Rooneys have a reputation for taking care of their players (Hines Ward aside, apparently) so I think it would be a good environment.

When Roethlisberger was injured last season with a high ankle sprain he sat out one game and then came back when it was clear that he was still badly hobbled and should not have been on the field. I took that to mean that they did not trust their backups. Charlie Batch was the backup last year and he is getting a little long in the tooth.

Well, Batch really was a great backup for us, but like every one of our three (!) backups the last couple years, he had some health issues. Not to mention the age. So while there's no question the Steelers could use an incredibly solid QB project like Cousins, it's really hard to see the Steelers picking him unless he falls seriously hard in the draft. As others have pointed out, Pittsburgh has some very serious needs at other positions (both lines, notably), and the salary cap finally catching up to us this season has cost us some major depth.

Kind of bizarre that Tomlin would be there in person, unless he's scouting Worthy (who also should come off the board WAY before the Steelers pick), or BJ or KMart--which is also odd, given how young Pittsburgh already is at the WR position. Maybe he's looking for an insurance plan in case a team manages to pry away Wallace? I'm not sure you can really draw any conclusions from this visit, except to say that the Spartans have some incredible talent that Pittsburgh would be very very lucky to get if they fall to the right spot.

My buddy is working there too, he is their waiter, he just texted me their conversation over appetizers

"So, have you ever slammed into a car riding your motorcycle without a helmet?"

    No.

"So uh, have you ever raped a chick in a bathroom?"

    No.

"Uh, have you ever raped a chick in a hotel room?"

    No.

    "When can you start?"

Maybe Pitt is sick of Ben's shit and injuries. He's on the downside.

II doubt they'd take KC first Round but if he's there in the 2nd, Hello Ben

Honestly, where the hell does the anti-steelers stuff come from around this board? The penguins I understand, back to back finals against a team will do that.

That's it in a nutshell for me. And Crybaby and Roethlisberger. That's why I call it Shittsburgh.

But if that's where Kirk ends up, and he ends up playing a lot, then I'll root for them, but ONLY because of him.

Come on. With that statement, you're either a hater or you don't know jack about football. Big Ben is on the downside? Injuries?!? Stop before you make yourself look worse.

  • I would think that Byron Leftwich is going to be the backup to Ben next year but he has proven to be injury-prone, and Batch is reliable but at the end of his career. The Steelers look like they are parting ways with Dennis Dixon and they brought in Troy Smith so a young QB is a priority. If Cousins is available 3rd-4th round I could see the Steelers drafting him and he would be a great fit with a team with a new OC Todd Haley. Would love to see it happen but he may not be available.

I'd also love to see him go somewhere where you know they want to win, and the fanbase expects it. I'd hate to see him in Cleveland or Jacksonville.
