I thought this was America

My wife (no pics) was a former HS/Club gymnast and is still involved coaching/judging at various levels. Because of this she "makes" me go to College Gymnastics meets at MSU as she is friends with a lot of the coaches and some of the girls.

I'm surprised at the lack of interest in college gymnastics compared to international gymnastics. While the level of college gymnastics is a lot lower, I would think the appeal of fit college aged girls prancing around in tight semi-revealing outfits would draw more than just the young girls and their parents crowd.

Though I admit it is confusing to watch live as women's generally has 4 events with uneven scoring going on at the same time. If the teams are close it's hard to tell who is winning, and unless you know something about the level or talent of each girl it's hard to focus on the top ones. Especially if there is more than 4 teams at a meet and a team or teams are taking rotations off. TV cleans a lot up in production.

Men's is worse as there are 6 rotations going at the same time and personally, the view is not that good...though the two times I have gone to a men's meet (both at Illinois to support a family friend) I did notice that college chicks do turn out better to oogle the ripped college dudes.

Internationally despite all but a handful of the girls looking or actually being prepubescent anorexic high pitch twigs, it's a pretty popular eworld wide and in the US. It generally gets placed in prime time in olympic years because it it's generally one of the Olympics largest ratings grabbers. The US team since about 92 or so has been really good/deep and expected to do well so it's not surprising the ratings were high, especially in big gymnastics areas (Michigan/Ohio/Illinois being one, others include Dallas/Oklahoma, NewYork/New England, SoCal, and Pennsylvania/MidAtlanic, Florida). Those markets dwarf the three markets that cared about the Sugar Bowl, so it's not surprising.

Quite being insecure and join in the hate.

Or that any Sugar Bowl involving K-State, Baylor or even us would've drawn lower ratings than Michigan.

Apples and oranges, though... The Outback was on a weekday afternoon, competing with other games, while the Sugar was prime time.

It was the lowest rated Sugar Bowl in 15+ years.
