Yeah... maybe we don't need DTs so bad...
Strong side DE and goal line LB is how I'd use him this year, and then see what he looks like going into next season.

I don't know where he is putting all this weight, at 6-3 290 he should he looking at least a little fat. He looks exactly the same as he looked as a recruit. He must be the strongest, yet least defined person ever.

LT at least came in at about 250lbs....even at the worst case scenario he balloons to maybe 310 or so he could probably play DT but more likely that Mannie will try to get him down to about 275 to play DE.

I think 1 week of gassers in fall camp will get everybody down 5 to 15 lbs EASILY.

That's because that picture of him is from signing day last year . . . .unless you're talking about seeing him around campus?
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

So that recent weight listing of 265 was offered based on bad information from the source...interesting. In less than a year, he's put on 55 pounds and folks here who have had shoulder injuries say that he's not able to gain muscle mass from working out because the injury prevents working out...so that means that 55 pounds is fat.
I think this is going to be one of many very interesting story lines in fall camp...

most likely if he continues to balloon, it just means he will be out of shape. others that have had shoulder injuries point out that he has been unable to work out. So, it's not like he's putting on muscle.

Given Dantonio's comments in the article that doesn't sound likely to me. My interpretation of the comments is that LT is too good to keep off the field, hardly AJ II like. Just my opinion.

Yea, I saw him during the spring as well, and he definitely didn't look fat. I thought he was closer to 260 than 280.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I could be wrong, but I think his shoulder is healed and he's working out normally.

That's a pretty bold and I think unfair assumption/question coming from you there CBD. If you are inferring he has gotten out of shape and fat, then just come out and say it. But he is still a young man growing into his body, and the questions and some predictions when he came into college were that he was going to naturally out grow his LB position and switch to the d line anyhow. I am hoping you are just thinking out loud and haven't heard concerns from the staff about this, I think it is a good thing for our future at D line.

Still not buying the 290 numbers. Coaches have a tendency to weigh players in full pads and spout off about weights... I saw LT at the spring game and he was NOT 290. That's ridiculous. You can't be 290 at his height with that kind of physique.
I saw he's 270, 285 with full pads and will play around 265 or 260 (no pads) this fall. Don't forget that Coach D really doesn't care for media and he rarely talks about individual players like this (as the article notes).
He has some reasoning for throwing out the inflated numbers and I doubt he would do it if he was concerned by LT's conditioning or performance in any way shape or form.
