To each their own man... I have always had a favorite Spartan.. I loved Raymar before he ever stepped on campus. Delvon the same way... Dont know why, I just took to those guys and rooted for them. Roe even more so with him constanly fighting back from injury every season, I just always liked the kid.
I have a strong feeling that not many are going to agree with you, but I also know that I was probably a bigger fan of Delvon than most, so to each their own.
Going to +1 you for expressing an opinion against the norm and not being a jerk about it.

I guess for me, its that I always wanted to have a 6'7" three that could face up, rebound, and just be a beast.
Raymar, Delvon, and Dawson were all that guy in high school. I can tell you right now that if Jabari Parker comes here, he is the next guy for me.
Raymar and Delvon both had to become back to the basket guys for different reasons, but both had the ability to do a TON of different things to help the team and thats what makes a player special to me... the ability to play whichever way their defender doesnt want them to.

At the risk of getting downvoted to Bolivia, am I the only one that has no real emotional attachment to Roe? It sucks what happened to him, and he sure tried hard to come back, but he didn't. I just don't get what's so special about him in particular. Is it just because Izzo seems to really like the guy?

He chose MSU when he was one of the most coveted recruits in the nation. A true phenom that everyone expected to be on the fast track to the NBA. Then the injuries hit.
Delvon suffered the pain of injury, surgeries and rehab multiple times. He played on a torn meniscus the last few games of one season because he knew the team needed him to.
Despite all that, Delvon never complained, never slacked and never asked for any sympathy...in fact, he downplayed the pain he was dealing with, even keeping it from the coaching staff.
This is a guy who literally saw his NBA dreams die when his body fell apart. This wasn't just a "Gee, I'd like to play in the NBA dream", this is a guy who would have been drafted out of high school before the one and done rule went into effect.
Izzo raves about Roe's attitude. Jay Bilas calls him the toughest player he's ever seen. I follow Roe on Twitter, and his attitude is amazing. He isn't focused on what he's lost, he's focused on what he has, and what he's working towards (his wife, his daughter, and his acting career).
Delvon reminds me of Will Smith's character in the movie Pursuit of Happyness, he just will not be denied, and he will find success.
