Le'veon Bells apparent "non-TD"

  • can someone please explain to me HOW that call was not reversed and bell given the TD.

    i'm trying to be objective, but from the clear angle i saw, bell's leg's never touched the ground (they even appeared to be ON mcdonald), his arms don't touch, he stretches out, the ball CLEARLY breaks the plane of the goal line...............and drumroll please, its not reversed.

    i would've bet my life we were gonna get that call reversed and get the TD.

    i'd be dead.

    It was clear that he was on top of the lineman. The refs are terrible.

    True, but all you have to do is go less than a yard for a TD on 4th down but our O-line gets blown up by a MAC level D-line. Turrible. I feel bad for Leveon trying to run behind those losers, he could be a huge star somewhere else with a competent O-line.

    ummm, i don't know what game you were watching, but the o-line, i thought, opened a fair amount of holes against the BIG TENS FOURTH ranked rush defense. yes, the fourth down play got blown up, that does happen at the goal line sometimes, unfortuneately when 11 defenders sell out against the run. bell and the o-line were NOT the reason we lost this game.

    and, this thread was about bell SCORING (on third down). if that wasn't "indisputable evidence", i'm not sure what is.

  • Listen, I think it was a TD as well. But you should be able to get half a yard against these nerds despite a terrible call. And I'll just have to disagree about the O-line. They got blown up several times and about got Maxwell killed. They. are. awful.

  • They should once and for all change the rule wording to:

    "The play will only be reversed if it was a blown call that wasn't remotely close to being correct from any angle -or- if a blueblood team got harmed by the call. Otherwise the ruling on the field will stand, and we will pretend replay review doesn't exist."

    Just be up front about it. Thanks.

  • I was watching my kids, so I ran upstairs to wait on them hand and foot after I was convinced Bell scored... Couldn't believe it when I came back down to the 'home theater' and the points were not up on the board.

    On a semi unrelated note.

    Where has his spin move gone? He did it more in the first two weeks than he has the rest of the year.

  • Was listening to the Spartan Radio Network during that play. They were calling for some accountability for the referees. They were absolutely PISSED at that call, and were saying the Big 10 and the players deserved better.

    I wish I could remember more of what he said, but my memory sucks. The quote above is one I sent to a friend of mine via text right after Miller said it, so I was able to refer back to that one. I know I could go listen to the broadcast of the game on Tieman's site to hear what else he said, but I'm not motivated enough right now.

    Yep, you should have to score twice to be rewarded once. Makes total sense!

    Not w/o Mark and after getting the shit kicked out of them (physically) by Michigan and Nebraska and us and we're coming off a bye and haven't been on the road for 3 weeks.

    we both thought it was a TD. we both thought we should be able to get a 1/2 yard on fourth down.

    o-line "they.are.awful." this, i call you on your bullshit.

    i don't think they had one holding or illegal procedure the whole game.
    bell rushed for 140 yards.
    yes, maxwell was sacked (only) three times, one of which was on bell.
    maxwell had ample time to throw today.

    and for that matter, the o-line played their best game of the year against nebraska, and played pretty damn well against wisconsin.

    this is the big ten. the trenches are TOUGH. dirty, nasty, hard-hitting, etc.

    show me a QB who DOESN'T get his jersey "dirty". you don't think these d-line from other teams don't have talent ?

    i've come to conclusion, we are SNAKEBIT. i get so worked up for these damn games, i can't even talk to my wife and daughters for hours afterwords.

    i'm down. i wanna puke, but i will be ROOTING LIKE HELL TO BEAT MINNESOTA.

  • If you think our O-line is good...then I just can't help you. Their ceiling is average and they usually play below it. It doesn't help their cause that they have a QB who shits his pants with any pressure. If there is a stat for throw-aways, Maxwell has GOT to be leading the nation, he just gives up if anyone is near him. I think he has a ton of talent but I don't think he's a gamer with much will to win. Frustrates the shit out of me when he won't run with a clear opening too.
