  • Despite a pretty good year numbers wise in the Tigers system last year, the last I heard was that Brandon Eckerle decided to go to law school starting this fall instead of play baseball this season.

  • Eli Boike was released by the Toronto Blue Jays last month. It was hard to find info on it. The only source that I could use was Baseball America. MiLB.com had him listed as active and that Lansing was his parent club. He didn't have any official 2012 stats. Given the time of his release, my best guess is that he was in extended spring training. Once the draft was done, and the short season began, he would be a casualty. He's 24, didn't make the Lansing roster at the start of the season, and he's too old for Short Season A. He may have been injured at some point as well, but finding info on that can be tricky.
