MI Golf Show

  • The MI golf show is this weekend in Novi at the surburban showplace. Any fellow RCMBers going? Or have you gone in the past? I'm going on Sunday, never been before but heard some good things. I don't have anything in particular in mind to purchase but I'm sure some good deals will win me over!

  • nike comes to my house to outfit me for the upcoming season. you poor bro?

  • I went last year. It's a good time. It's fairly crowded, but the prices IMO are good.

Bought a whole new set of irons for like 290. Well worth it if you are an avid golfer, or if you like to play from time to time. Also, beer.

  • Hopefully I will make it. And hopefully it's a zilly times better than the one at the breslin was...saying it was MAC level would be an enormous insult to the MAC

Forgot about all of the RCMB ballers. I hope to one day achieve the same amount of wealth

  • I went today and was disappointed. (Ive been going for a couple years now, and have done okay in the past.) Prices were very underwhelming. I was looking for a couple different things, and when I tried to negotiate with any vendor, they just shot me down on the spot. I wasnt looking for this years new releases either. Even used clubs were going for more than ebay prices. If you were looking for clothing type items, you might have got a couple items at decent prices. This show has gotten so big, I think the equipment vendors see this as a sellers market because of the 30K people that show up. I do like talking to the course vendors, as they are happy to work with you to get you on their courses.

Totally agree. I went this morning and ended up walking out of there with a $5 ball marker (along with the $10 admission fee and $5 parking). I was looking to pick up a fairway wood, but ended up getting it at Golfsmith after the show. Unless you are looking for a 2 year-old set of irons, the show wasn't really worth it.

Yeah, I always find Sunday is a better time to try and get deals from the vendors. On Saturday, they still have all of that day plus the next day to get people to pay full price. By late Sunday, they're often looking to unload things so they don't have to pack up everything and move it again.

And if the good Lord’s willin’, I’m a keep on chillin’, refillin’ and flyin’ high

Yeah, I had $30 invested in gas, parking, and admission so I felt I had to buy something just to make it feel like it was worth my time. I grabbed some balls I probably didnt need as I was walking out the door. This is the only place Ive ever went to a show, but wonder if some of the others that have been going on are any better/worse.

I am pretty sure the golf shows are all the same. I went to the one in Mt. Pleasant when I was in college, and it had the same vendors as this one.

  • I haven't been to one in a long time. Is it still a bunch of Chinese knockoffs of brand name clubs. The last time I was there they were pushing "Tyler Made Bubble Blazers"

I agrEe. I went Friday night and walked out with nothing.

Best deals were on balls and apparel, both I don't need.

Lots of grap for sale, and I mean crap.

  • Main reason I go is to set up the spring/summer trips. The all you can play coupon for $40 at Red Hawk is alone worth the price of admission. Treetops has an early season all you can play for $110 with room and breakfast, which includes Threetops.

  • I went this afternoon and wasn't really looking for anything. I saw a few apparel items that I really liked but then I saw the price and there were nearly the same at Carl's Golfland. If I wanted to pay $50 for a shirt I would have just gone there.
