MSU Football optional seat selection system is online

  • I am not sure this is a MSU ticket office problem. I believe the Ballena Technology people that run the program during the reseating are the problem. It took me 3 hours last night to get my order to go thru. That was not fun at 3am.

  • Just moved 2 of my seat without an issue. Now have 6 in a row with 2 right above. Better than the previous situation.
Didn't have any hold times - went smoothly.

This was probably covered before but will this be a yearly situation?

I too would like to know how often this will happen..........????????

    Tritongreen.........have yours been released yet?
Curious to know what the lag is.......or if it is something else.

  • Question, is this for changing only or does the system allow people to buy additional seats as well?

    Go Green

    Go Green

Just changing or picking new seats that were purchased prior to the May deadline.

I do wonder if they will use this for future ticket purchases, didn't for basketball when they implemented the same system. I hate the "BEST AVAILABLE" option. Seems like it would be easy to convert both sports over to a system like this for picking tickets,

No, my tickets were never released. However, I am seeing seats that are being released so it is working to some extent.

  • Yes, I called the ticket office early this week and was told that their plans are to have this every year. They will look at donations/points on an annual basis and reorder people accordingly for the seat selection process. Of course it will always be optional.

  • Some tips from my experience.

Lots of activity at midnight. You could see things dropping off and adding back in real time. If you don't see something in a section you want, just hang out for a half our or so while people make their selections. Two of my old seats appeared about 5 minutes after I ejected them. They were picked up shortly after.

There's a 30 minute limit on your cart. Don't wait until the last seconds to finalize. You've got a few additional screens to go through before your cart expires. Leave a few minutes.

If you have multiple seats and want to hold on to only some of them, after you finalize you can check mark them. This wasn't clear to me, I figured I could add back my seats during the selection, but my seats were unavailable to me. I had to check them in the last steps to keep them. A little weird.

Similarly, be sure uncheck the seats you don't want. Not sure what happens if you keep your old and new checked in the final steps, but I wouldn't risk a big bill or the selection getting messed up.

The purple held seats popped up as soon as I initiated the process. There were a lot of purple that never expired during my session. Not sure what that's about, but waiting around for purple to open might be a waste of time.

The purple is pretty much indistinguishable from red. That's a really bad color combo. Add in the green for open, if you have any type of color blindness, your fucked. LOL. So, basically ignore the purple, I guess. If you can even see it.

In the morning, there were substantially better seats available in my section. FUUUUUU! Do yourself a favor and once you select, don't go back.

Overall a cool system. I hope they do it every year or at least periodically. It's a good motivator for donations and lets people move around a little with ease.

My exact thought before it started. Doesn't reward donors really, more luck of the draw. Basketball was a true donor benefit. Top donor had pick of any seat in the house, cleared the entire stadium. Once the seats were picked they were gone. No logging in days later to find some were released.

  • Really glad they opened it up to look at what is available before your date. Saved me from staying up until midnight tonight for no reason.

I'm shooting myself in the foot here but it is worth staying up until midnight. People drop great seats every night when they decide to move around. It's not just what is available prior to the time slot.

yeah some really good seats opened up last night around 10:30 pm...i missed them as they were only available for about 3 minutes...but i am gathering that if you can be patient and above all keep checking constantly you can make some great moves.

Those seats went fast though. Just luck I even saw them I think. I think midnight is the best time. Maybe play around with the cart a little to try and hold seats you want in hopes of something else opening up.

As far as the system, this is amazingly better than before. A full reseating would really piss people off. Add that to the seat fees and increased tickets for family areas, I'm sure MSU didn't want to completely FUBAR it. This is sort of a best of both worlds where people can keep the seats they like, but allow people to easily move around. Again, really hoping they do it every year.

Anybody get their Spartan Fund statement to pay for their seating fee?

I just logged in and the changes are reflected on my account. I changed Saturday night.

  • Anybody know if you can stay logged into the site if you logged in before your selection time? Or does it boot you out and make you log in again at midnight?

  • I was considering a move up to a higher per-ticket section. I have made a higher donation this year that would cover the extra cost. I called the ticket office to confirm that this was covered and they said it should be but in case I see an amount owing in my account that I should call them to explain and have it removed.
