MSU officials anticipate record season-ticket sales for 2012, possibly eliminating the option for fans to purchase individual game tickets.

I somewhat hate those things... Yet they're so efficient that I can't totally do it.

  • When is the deadline for renewals? I'm gonna have to have a serious talk with my buddy. I don't want to give up my tickets but he doesn't really want to renew because he's broke and the seat fee turned him off. I don't WANT to sit with my parents, but if I have to, I'll have to.

  • Wow. Great news in one regard.

But kind of sucky in another. I was hoping I could nab an MSU home football ticket when I made my triumphant return to campus in October-ish.

  • I'm hoping to add to that number this fall, but I'm still waiting on my interview in a week and pending admission to Broad. Do any graduate school alumni know if attending football games puts too much strain on MBA students (between studying, group work, events, etc.)? I want to be there, but not if my performance is going to suffer. Granted this all depends on whether or not I get in, but it never hurts to be prepared...

I bet there are quite a few.

  • That line is pure propaganda. Not only will that not happen, it would be extremely bad business to not give the public a chance to buy individual tickets for at least a few games.

Zero. Why would they spend $350 for one game when they will be able to get tickets on the secondary market for less than $100 easy

Are you suggesting they cut off season tickets at some point? If the demand is there, it would be silly to set an arbitrary ceiling. It will play out one way or another (and letting the public know what the trend is right now is hardly "propaganda").

  • Can someone tell me if they are still allowing the Young Alumni discount? Is there a code or should it autmatically sync with my email? It are showing public price... fuck

First of all they won't get to that point but let's say for shits and giggles that they could approach selling out.., then yes they should cut it off. It is good to be able to sell tickets to people that can't buy season tickets. It creates new customers and builds for the future. You also get more money per ticket on a single game basis.

  • Is it true that Nebraska fans buy season tickets for the road game teams?

"Instead, Baumert looked to the Badgers. He bought season tickets for Wisconsin and made a donation to the university.

"We had to make $50 donations, so we are boosters too," he said. "The tickets were $300, $700 total for the two of us for all the games."

Tickets to Nebraska's Big Ten opener with Wisconsin are going for anywhere from $233 to $1,200 online."

  • Seems like some good marketing, but some perspective.

Typically MSU doesn't sell season tickets to the public until mid-June. This year with the seat choosing thing, they're just letting everyone buy a ticket and the location will be hashed out by priority system. So, there's an early rush this year.

A lot of tickets might be going for resale. People will get to pick seats and probably make good money doing so.

Second, we'll have to wait and see how renewals go with the new seat fees. People may opt to not renew or reduce the number of tickets.

I was in law school and still bought season tickets. It's 7 Saturdays a year. You can plan ahead and schedule around them if you have to. It's not going to hurt your performance and if it does, then you're probably not a very good student in the first place (which would be contrary to an acceptance to the Broad MBA program). I think you'll be fine.

Plus the Broad and Law school tickets are awesome (on the 30 and 40). If you can wait until you're accepted, I would get those tickets (student rate as well).
