    Logic fail..The statement was that MSU lost more than Michigan. You acknowlege that and then try to qualify it by saying MSU has more capable players to replace them. This may be true but it does not change the fact that MSU lost more talent on defense than Michigan.

    I never said MSU lost more than Michigan in the context of each team...in fact I said the exact opposite!

  • The fact that this troll is here speaks wonders of what Dantonio has done to this rivalry. It has COMPLETELY FLIPPED. Before, we were the ones rationalizing perceptions using twisted stats and such. Now these fools are running to our boards, telling us that WE fielded more talented teams, pointing to illusions in the future, and justifying their bullshit by selectively choosing certain stats. It's great to be a Spartan lol

    Read my post on page 2. It's the long one, about 3-4 from the bottom. I averagd the scoring O's, Total O's and Rush O's of both MSU and UM's Big 10 opponents. MSU faced tougher offenses, on average, across the board. It's not really up for debate.

    Edit: If you're really here not to troll, then I suggest you ignore the flames and just respond to the serious responses. I believe there are several flaws in your argument and I pointed them out. If you'd like to discuss, then discuss. If you just want to go on about the Sugar Bowl, go to the UM 247 board.

    THAT is definitely the best measure of the strength of a schedule. Certainly not the strength of schedule (MSU #17 vs UM #44), but the number of bowl teams. Bravo! You win the title for "Worst Arguments Ever" on this board.

  • MSU had the best yds/play d in conference play at 4.5. UofM was 5th at 5.1. Yds/play is the most important defensive statistic as it speaks to.consistent defensive effort and is not skewed by turnovers which may or may not be "forced" (see the Tommy Rees fumble) That is all that needs to be said.

    First off I am a Michigan fan and have no intention of trolling this board. I enjoy stoping in here every once and awhile. Its very clear MSU has a tough defense and im not trying to pretend otherwise but I came across these numbers and frankly was shocked by them. This was posted on Mgoblog

    Thanks to super cupcake games against Youngstown State and Florida Atlantic the numbers are a little misleading. I took a look at conference only statistics, here are some of the numbers. Note: These are from the 8 regular season conference games and do not include the conference championship game .

    Total Defense - Conference Only

    Michigan 300.9 3rd

    MSU 313.9 4th

    Rushing Defense

    Michigan 115.6 1st

    MSU 118.1 2nd

    Passing Defense

    Michigan 185.2 5th

    MSU 195.8 9th

    First Downs

    Michigan 15.6 2nd

    MSU 18.5 4th

    3rd Down Conversion %

    Michigan 30.1 1st

    MSU 33.9 2nd

    When looking at these numbers just remember Mattison and the defensive staff accomplished this in year one! MSU certainly has a good defense, no one would doubt that, but they are not nearly as dominant as many believe and they lost as much or more than Michigan did. I think our perception of the MSU defense is more favorable because they have given our offense trouble.

  • Wheatley's argument has been exposed so badly it has devolved to inane nonsense. Typical Wolverine. Your program is built on hype and spin. When you dig deeper, it becomes painfully obvious that UM's program isn't nearly what UM fans want you to believe.

    At least us MSU fans maintain some perspective rather than spending every waking moment jerking each other off.
