They said that he had loud music cranked when he left for the shooting. Thought was he expected someone to go to investigate a noise violation and set the thing off when they opened the door.
i understand all that...my point is that it seems like it was all part of the plan - an extra kick if you will. I'm curious as to why he told them about it rather than letting it all blow up and kill more people. of course i'm glad he didn't, it just seems weird to have gone through all the trouble and then just tell them about it so it wouldn't work.

He's the guy who was crying on TV over the past few days, sobbing uncontrollably.... Keep in mind I'm not passing judgment or saying the guy is a wuss just pointing out that he's been getting a lot of air time and that he cried. When he mentioned that he had little kids with him at the movies I ='ed
The tragedy aside - these fucking people have absolutely NO CLUE at all - forget about the fact that little babies tend to cry during the movie, but I'm sure a violent movie with a lot of loud noises can't be good stimuli for an infant to be exposed to. Just completely irresponsible.

Seriously... WTF. Dude drops his infant son and scatters while leaving his fiance and 2 kids behind? Wow.
EDIT: It gets worse... not only did he leave them behind in the theater.... he literally drove away without them:

Lucky for her there was a 19-year-old nearby who took the time to protect her and her children, while getting shot himself:
Ms Legarreta told 'Good Morning America' that she credits Jarell Brooks, 19, with helping her and her two children get out of the theatre alive.
'I don't know where I would be,' Ms Legarreta said. 'I don't remember exactly everything that happened but I thank him because having him there next to me, knowing that there was somebody there, just, it's comforting, knowing that somebody was willing to help.' {NOT your fiancé, by the way - Ed.} ...
While trying to get out of the theatre, the teen saw Ms Legarreta, struggling to get herself and her two children out.
He said he crawled on top of the woman in an attempt to push her and the kids out the door and was shot in the thigh while protecting them.
'It felt like a sharp pain,' he told 'Good Morning America'. 'When I tried to move my left leg, I went down. I looked at my hand and I noticed there was bleeding. That's when I knew it was real.'
But Mr Brooks said he doesn't consider himself a hero for helping Ms Legarreta escape the spray of bullets.
'I saw someone in distress,' he said. 'I'm not the kind of person who would let them be in that situation and me selfishly trying to get myself out of the equation... all she's trying to do is protect her kids, so I felt like if I could get her out, then maybe, I would have gotten out maybe I wouldn't, as long as I knew she was OK I was alright.'

The horrific shooting at the screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Colorado late last night bears eerie similarities to a scene in the 1986 comic Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. In the comic, a crazed, gun-toting loner walks into a movie theater and begins shooting it up, killing three in the process. The passage concludes with the media blaming Batman for inspiring the shooting, though he is not involved in the incident at all.
