I am glad that NBC and CBS decided it was time to really invest time and money into their own sports networks. You see many of the "talented" people leaving ESPN for these networks. I can only watch ESPN during football season and even then it can be very difficult. You also have the 4 majors having their own networks all of which of very strong (I am only basing this off NFL and NHL). Pure and simple ESPN has focused too much time on the E and not the S part of their name. If ESPN finds itself left with the Bayless, Smiths, Cowherd and the douches from Around the Horn they will find themselves struggling against knowledgeable and respected journalist on other networks.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. When this stuff happens, people blog about it and post links on message boards, bringing more viewership to their product. ESPN knows exactly what they are doing. ESPN invites controversy at every turn and cares very little about their reputation so long as they remain relevant.

MLB Network is amazing. NBA is good too.
Can't really blame ESPN though for not being up to par with those networks in terms of in depth coverage.

For the hardcore fan it is. Tell me, what its time slot? Something like Saturday mornings at 2AM?
Trust me, I get excited when I happen to catch an episode, but the average pro football fan in America isn't going to give that show more than five minutes.

I like Mark Cuban but he picked an easy target. ESPN is a joke... toss them in the same bin as MTV, Discovery, and Nat Geo, etc.
Viewers are too stupid to keep up with an X's and O's conversation, they're getting exactly what they want.
Sports "journalism", I have yet to see any such thing on any network.... I might as well get my news from MSNBC and Fox News if I'm going to rely on anything on TV for my sports journalism.
But, they do have a monopoly on a lot of the games... so, what is a consumer to do?
