So many great plays overshadowed by one really bad one. I loved that game all the way up until that boneheaded play call to block. Thats like the blitz call against Iowa in '09.

I think he covered for Lewis with the comment. If the block was on weren't there 2-3 other players also hard charging at the punter, or in the area to cover any ball if it was succesful? Why was it the best downfield blocking by MSU for any return all night? I think Lewis free lanced wanting to make the big play in front of the hometown crowd, not blaming him for the loss, there were a lot of blown oppurtinities in this game, this one no more a key than anyt of the others. But Dantonio is still a bad### mother##### for taking an arrow for his player and not throwing him under the bus.

The "boneheaded play" was NOT the call. It was by Lewis. Even if the punt block is on, by no means does that mean that a penalty for running into the kicker should happen.

After brief remarks from Dantonio, Hecklinski was in the midst of a detailed presentation about the Wolverines' approach to recruiting and how important the state's high school coaches are to that effort when Dantonio interrupted.

"OK, here's what we're going to do," Dantonio said, cutting off Hecklinski, "we're going to get other people up here. We're going to talk about more than the University of Michigan."

After Dantonio's interruption, Wayne State coach Paul Winters, Siena Heights coach Jim Lyall and former Alma coach Jim Cole were brought up to participate -- and Hecklinski's time was done.

“I really didn’t know how this would work in this forum; it was the first time we’ve ever done this, and I just didn’t know how this would work,” Dantonio said. “I didn’t want it to be a recruiting (speech for Michigan).”

Hecklinski said he thought he had a 15-minute window to speak. “Look, I understand my place,” he said. “What took place, took place and it is what it is. There is no reason to rehash it.”
