Well, assuming Maryland and Rutgers are in, only a few schools (not including the west coast) are in the AAU and would bring *NEW* TV money:
Georgia Tech Florida Vanderbilt Kansas (assuming they are allowed to leave KSU) (maybe) Virginia (with Richmond and Tidewater markets)
Pitt and Iowa St bring no new TV money, Texas A&M, Colorado, and Missouri just moved and are underwater in their mortgage, UNC and Texas are political kings of their current conferences, and Duke wouldn't leave UNC.
That said I fully expect 16 schools at some point if for nothing else but the design of the current B1G logo.

Like many in this thread, I can't say that I'm excited about the prospect of adding either MD or Rutgers. I have nothing against either school though nor do I feel they're not B10 worthy when it comes to academics or athletics. For me it's more of a geographical and cultural thing. We're THE conference in the Midwest. I really don't want to branch out to the East coast or South. I realize that money talks and this is all about money but who knows maybe we're being short sighted here.
What's going to happen when most of our sports are streamed over the internet or offered via some sort of Pay Per View? Will all schools eventually have their own "Long Horn Network" someday? I can see the media market changing again in the near future and I have to wonder if we won't think "gee, I wish we would have stayed with 10 or 12 schools". Will cable TV become a thing of the past?
Expanding in the wrong directions could be a mistake. I don't want the B10 to end up with values seen in the Big 12 or SEC territories when it comes to recruiting, unequal payouts, etc. That ESPN 30 for 30 special on SMU scares the crap out of me.
I say "NO" to further expansion. In the event that we HAVE to grow then I say "stay in the Midwest." The only states I'd like to see schools come from would be any of our current member states plus Missouri, Kansas or the Dakotas. Anything else is out of bounds unless the USA and Canada become one.

This also makes a lot of sense from an academic side as well. Admissions aside (and both Rutgers and Maryland are good academic schools), they are also the ONLY big, public academic institution in their respective states. And, politically speaking based on the number of representatives, they are big states. This means, there are 4 new senators and a bunch of new reps, who in attempting to bring federal research $$$ to their states, will bring research through the CIC... which is more money for the B1G, as most of those federal research dollars apply to multiple schools. This often gets overlooked by the sport fan, but not the University Presidents who oversee their respective academic programs and the research dollars that go to them.

The Dakotas? Would you explain just how any of the "dakota" schools would fit academically? Any AAU members? Is Missouri and AAU member? I am serious...would like to see your response.
FYI, here is the list of AAU members: http://www.aau.edu/about/article.aspx?id=5476

I like the move because it expands the recruiting base. Adding Nebraska actually hurt the big ten overall. Nebraska added practically zero talent to the recruiting base of the conference while adding brother school to compete with in Ohio. New Jersey and Maryland are solid 2nd tier recruiting states and the added exposure should bring an influx of fresh talent into the Big Ten that will make our teams more competitive on the field.
If it's true, then adding Georgia Tech would be the same thing. However, if Georgia Tech comes too, then you would need a 16th team as well.
