Michigan State preseason roster and depth chart

It seemed to me that Martin was quicker and faster later in the year, I thought he recovered from an injury? He was noticeably quicker in the BTCG and on senior day.

He got hurt in the FAU game... later in the game than he should have even been playing quite frankly...

Slowly recovered through the season and caught his stride again late.

Marriage is like flying with kids, if the flight had 500 connections, never ended, Ted Striker were your pilot and you ate the fish.

You know, all things considered, we had a pretty rough year for injuries last year. A lot of starters missed significant time or the whole season and guys like Martin and Norman were hobbled for much of the year. Between Hoover, Burkland, Treadwell and Ruhland, that was a lot to overcome in the trenches last year, let's hope we are a little more fortunate in 2012.

yep, but it was fairly normal, and 2010 was amazingly injury free.

Additionally last year remember that Jackson missed time and played hurt all year after Treadwell went down and Foreman was literally walking with a cane.

Losing Pickelman in the B1GCCG was brutal too. How about Fowler?

Don't forget Picklemann, his injury was huge, guy was coming into his own as a force, made plays everywhere.

  • Lost Strayhorn as well. Depth guy and third down interior pass rusher. Really speaks to both the depth of talent and coaching that these blows were absorbed in stride.

Scum fanbase was actually booing him and other injured players.

Some of them actually said him sitting out the next games was a ploy.

No way Burbridge has a bigger impact than Dell did as a freshman. There is too much depth. Dell walked on campus as the fifth receiver on the depth chart and rose to #3 by the start of the season because he only had to leapfrog Curry and Terry Love. By Big Ten play he moved up to #2 after Williams was booted from the team. He spent the rest of the year as a starter. Dell had talent, but more importantly, most of the other receivers didn't so he flew up the depth chart.

Burbridge probably has more talent than Dell, but his path to playing time is infinitely more difficult than Dell faced. If healthy, Fowler is the surefire #1. Mumphery, Lippett, and Arnett make William, Love, and Curry look like pop warner players.then you throw in guys like Sims and Caesar who have a year under their belt and know the playbook. Even among the freshmen he has his work cutout for him. Kerrick has been here since January and Madaris and Kings have been here all summer while Burbridge was taking classes to get eligible. He's starting as the #9 receiver. He certainly has the talent, but he could leap five spots and still barely see the field. Better off to redshift him.

He's going to have to have G.O.A.T. to play WR at MSU type talent to step into that depth chart and make a bigger impact than Dell did as a freshman. That's not a knock against the kid. That just shows how far this program has come in overall talent since the fall of 2007.

    Bump?

Not sure why, but this post always stuck with me, especially after our receivers started so bad this year.

Well if your comparison is apt, Burbridge would be the one to play (Dell started and BJ redshirted). I think Burbridge will have a bigger impact as a true frosh than Dell did. I don't think people realize how good this kid is. Even if you're a rankings person, Burbridge is a top 10 WR in his class, while Dell was 21 and 60 something per Rivals and Scout.

Might as well bump the correct post if I'm going to go through the trouble of bumping the incorrect one.
