Michigan State's Dan Roushar Post Game vs Northwestern

  • LP said...

Remember the pic 6? It was a first down after a run play to get said first down. While I don't have the numbers you know what our run/pass ratio was on first down. Pretty pass heavy. Those coaches on the other sideline get paid too. They dialed up a blitz because we are heavy all season long pass on first down.

Also, Bell got nearly half his yards in the 4th quarter and only in that quarter did we run heavy on first down.

his other interception was on first down I believe as well.

Now, to show the other side, I fully believe first down is the best down to throw, but only when there is balance does it make it the best down. We had no balance.

On the pick six, the receiver was open behind the defense (Sims)-- would've been a great play had the blocking been there. On the other int, Maxwell threw into double coverage, with Sims wide open on the other side of the field. Again, the plays called would've succeeded with good execution.

Roushar sucks and deserves a lot of the blame for the season's results. Look at facts though - MD is beyond loyal and he's not going to fire his friend.

The question really shouldn't be is Roushar going to be fired - its "can Roushar improve in the offseason as a coach?" We should be asking MD that kid of question... how specifically is he going to address those faults to make sure his coaching staff grows and improves. If he really is a good coach, then he *should* have an improvement plan for everyone on his staff...

We had the same question last year. Some people had thought that he showed improvement last year and would continue into this year. That was false.

  • Can we all please start referring to Roushar as "Mr. Dynamic"? Seems like a fitting name to me.

One of the qualities that many analysts will tell you helped MSU the last couple of years and also helped them to become a program with a solid foundation is stability of the staff. Not a whole lot of movement. Im like many who get frustrated when a play doesn't work and I do think rousharr calls a bad series sometime, but if anyone is so narrow minded that they think they can pin it on him they're just out of their mind. We still have linemen that dint know BASIC pass blocking rules. Just watch the film. Thing is, I know they watch it and they're graded on it and they're not coached to double an inside gap if there are two outside of you, but I'll be damned if I don't see it when I re watch the game. Short of pulling these kids out of the game every single time they fuck up and not having any consistency I have no idea what I'd do. We have a very low football iq on our line. I guess we can blame roushar for that, but it seems we have much deeper problems.

Well stability is good when you have a quality staff, when you lose probably your best recruiter, Enos, and a very good OC, Treadwell, the replacements need to be of the same quality. JLS's staff was pretty stable, how'd that work out.

Thank you. I don't often get overly angry about individual play calls in a game, but that 4th and goal call was terrible! Why not go play action? How about a naked bootleg? Anything but Le'Veon up the middle that fooled NOBODY, including the 70,000 spectators.

    Zero imagination...and that's on the coaching staff...period.

All you need to do is listen to the first 20 seconds.

Q: A question like, did you do anything differently with the bye week?

A: No not really, just tried to stay true to who we are, looked at formations, didn't do a lot of different things.

This is why you suck Roushar. You're 5-5 and you didn't try to do anything differently? Makes sense. That's why you're now 5-6.

  • The last time Roushar got creative and tried something different we saw connor cook run a "speed" option. The man has no brain and should never coach again. Also i think the oline coach Staten needs to go. We should pay both of their salaries to go to WMU and move on

  • If Roushar was fired who hires him? I think MD knows that Roushar will take a huge salary cut and it will hurt his family. The pay is nowhere near the same for a MAC coordinator.

  • A MAC level OC??? Please! Was at the Toledo/Ball St game the other night and both of those schools offenses are head and shoulder above what Roushar puts on the field each wk. No way any MAC school would hire a OC who's amoung THE worst in Division 1 college football. Even the Buckeye radio slappies were saying MSU's OC is awful. And that MD, much like Tressel, will have a great D and an unqualified OC. OSU radio guys were chuckling saying MD's offense is 10 yrs behind college football. Feels that way!

There are some high school level coaches in this state that could field a better product. It is embarrassing to say the least.
