Seriously though, the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. Pretty eloquently written, gotta give him credit there I suppose.

I'd wager $1k this kid will look back in 20 years and wish he had been smart enough to have handled this differently.

The other thought that comes to mind is why does the guy think that Kill manipulated him and mistreated him so much? Does he really think Kill gets some sort of power rush from it? I suppose it's possible, but teaching college in a field that's extraordinarily competitive i can say that the teachers and coaches i know are too caught up in trying to find ways to push their kids to reach their absolute best potential to have time to consider their own feelings of power, let alone to plan out (manipulate) how they're going to get those feelings of power. It seems much more likely Kill just used methods that work for some kids (and make them love him for it) but it didn't work for this one.

Of course Kill could be an exception and just be a beast too.

Kill really pissed him off. Apparently, not someone you should demean in front of the entire team, which btw is NOT a good motivational coaching technique.

Well written, the guy isn't a dummy. More power to him, hope he lands another university.

The bloggers might pick up on the story, but as far as this AJ's impact on the Minnesota program, I doubt there is any. They'll get back to work tomorrow, make a couple jokes about the letter, and be on to prepping for MSU.

Any coach that does bring him in won't be doing it to reward AJ's self proclaimed high moral ground, he'll be doing it simply because he thinks the kid can help him win.

I think he'd have had more options if he hadn't written the letter. Coaches have differing tactics, but they all embrace the chain of command. Pete Carroll and Nick Saban were polar opposites, but any player that forgot who was in charge would be reminded of it very quickly.

Yeah, but banging out a 30 million word rant and tweeting it all over the internet is completely insane. People will cross you in life. Have to learn how to handle your business better than that. I'm sure he will after this.

Uhh, he hasn't played in their last 3 games and still has more double the yards and TDs of the #2 receiver. He has 7 TDs and no one else has more than 4. He also averages 19.2 YPC.

Can he come to MSU? Please? We need people like this.

I'm sorry things didn't work out for the kid, and best of luck to him in the future, but don't want him anywhere near our roster. Two sides to every story, and way too much chance of serious baggage with this guy.

It's not like he made fun of Kill for having seizures or anything. Kid felt he was wronged and laid out why without name-calling. I can understand that many would handle if differently but it doesn't seem classless to me, especially since he is paying his own way.
