the regular tiger decal is on all kinds of Tiger gear down here....i've always wondered why they didn't use that instead of the Block M - akin to MSU's inexplicable use of the Block S for those years instead of the more iconic Spartan head.
God I hated the block S helmets.
The alt matte helmet looks like an ed hardy design.

Junking up the shoulders is not a wise move. It just screams "fad" which won't have any staying power. Like our away and alternate jerseys. They may look cool RIGHT NOW, like how big hair looked cool in the 80s, but we'll look back and wonder WTF were we thinking?
Gotta keep it simple but sharp. All of the great unis are this way and have stood the test of time - Bama, OSU, PSU, OU, USC, etc.

I love the one on the left, perfect as an alternate style helmet. If MSU did something similar with gruff Sparty everyone on this board would slobber over it and Trevor would start at least 4 threads.

One thing that can't be argued, however, is that most of the great programs, the blue bloods, have a simple, clean, classic look that they haven't messed with, and made into a recognizable, national brand. Those programs "get it."

Helmets looks nice, the matte looks awesome. The jerseys suck though. That helmet is like putting lipstick on a pig.

B1G helmets as a whole are pretty classy and simple and that's the way it should be. Even our pro combat helmets last year were very good and not some outlandish Nike abomination.
