    Reports: Wisconsin Running Back Montee Ball Arrested For Lamest Offense Ever

    Twitter is aflutter with reports of one of the silliest transgressions in college football. Montee Ball was apparently arrested and cited for trespassing during Wisconsins annual Mifflin Street block party. The picture above, appeared on Twitter minutes ago and purports to show Ball being taken away by a couple of crossing guard-looking police officers.

    Cops in Madison aren't usually bad, but they have some absurd rules for Mifflin. A buddy of mine was given a $300 citation for walking down the sidewalk with a unopened glass fifth of Jack in a grocery bag. Just because there was no glass of any kind allowed anywhere.

    Given that I may be talking out of my ass cause I wasn't really in that situation....

    If he knew there wasn't supposed to be glass there and it was in a brown bag (if it was see through I guess he's screwed), why wouldn't you refuse to show the cop whats in the bag?

    Yes this is awesome, but he must be a genius for knowing Montee would refuse to leave.

    What kind of special person refuses to leave when asked, probably repeatedly, so that the cops have to come? Like, wouldn't he have to be on the property with the cops there and refuse to leave for them to arrest him for trespassing?

  • I looked up the "rules" for this block party and one site said: Know whose party you are at (and make sure they know you), otherwise “trespassing” is a $303 fine.

    So maybe the cops were just being dicks, asked him about the party and he didn't know whose house his was at [oldshrug]

  • I hate Wisky, but that is probably the weakest arrest ever. Yeah he should have left the porch, which is odd that he didn't and that someone would call the cops over that. And even worse at the price of the ticket. Ball won't miss a down over this and I can't say I blame Captain Caveman.

  • Party got out of control last year so the cops are trying to lay down the hammer. They threatened the residents that if their house parties got to big they would get ticketed. In return the residents signed some deal that they could call the cops whenever to have people they didn't know ticketed for trespassing. Will be interesting to see the official arrest count tomorrow but I am guessing it will be over 1,000. No real story here other than the house owners probably wont be able to show their face in the student section for a while.
