It disgusting that he was attacked, and I hope he's okay. Don't know if this was linked, but how does his friends not notice who were there? Also, again, nothing good happens after mid-night.
"Ball was walking down a street around 2:15 a.m. after "socializing" with friends, police spokesman Joel DeSpain said. Two friends walking ahead of him turned around and saw Ball on the ground. Five men had surrounded him and were kicking him in the head and chest, DeSpain said.
One of his friends and a man across the street moved to help Ball and the attackers fled, DeSpain said. Witnesses said Ball may have exchanged words with the men before they attacked him, but the motive for the assault remains unclear."

I wonder if there really was 5 attackers. It sounds to me like one guy might have stepped in front of Monte to take the charge and the other 4 hustled over to help him up and congratulate him for the selfless play?

I love how the Madison paper say, "Ball suffered a concussion on Wednesday morning in what Madison police called an "unprovoked assault."
How the eff do the police know it was "unprovoked"--where they there? I'm thinking the po-po probably didn't put it that way...
Then, going to the report (below). Doesn't appear Ball knew the attackers. "Investigated as an unprovoked attack"--doesn't say it WAS an unprovoked attack. Well, Ball better come clean. Sounds like he may not have been totally truthful to the po-po.

This isn't a shock. The whole story where his friends never heard 5 guys pound Ball into the dirt when they were walking in front of him sounded fishy from the beginning.
I was waiting for the "What's the frequency, Kenneth" guy to show up, personally.
