Most persnickety fanbase in College football?

    +1 for you sir. Finally a post, with substance. I have been putting up with mediocrity since I was about 10 years old, save last year. And then finally, finally we get a chance to lay it on a weak, miserable OSU team in their house, and we whimper away with a 3 point win making mistakes all along the way.

    I am dissapointed. Happy with the win yes. Does anyone think we played a good game today?

    I wrote a paper in grad school, uh oh here come the credential apologists, about what winning really means. The scenarios are:

    1. you play well and win 2. you play well and lose 3. you play poor and win 4. you play poor and lose

    See, I am one who thinks a win is a win, but comes with caveats which is why I am disappointed. We were 3 today and if you disagree you need your head examined.

    You wrote a paper in grad school? You win the internets!

    Also, on a serious note... you're OK with being called full of shit?

  • Sometimes I wonder why I go to forums. All week this was a huge game and would set the tone for the rest of the year. We won with an unbelievable defense and most people on here are bitching. We're 1-0 in the conference, tied for 1st in the division, and the win came on the road. If they play defense like this all season we'll be playing ball in January. I bet any money Nebraska would trade places with us tonight after getting blown out in their road opener.

    On one of the 50/50 that you speak of, Martin needs to not fade away from the ball. Or KC just needs to learn that you can't throw him the ball on a route that he's supposed to get to a spot (i.e. ND)

    Martin needed to come to the ball more aggressively, and Kirk threw it a bit late and to the wrong shoulder.

    Reading comprehension. There is plenty to be concerned about - I was responding to his dumb ass comment about "half these bitches don't know what Cornell is". Just dumb.

    I find a lot more positives than most from this game. If you dont that's fine, but the OPs point was a fair one IMO

Apparently the whopping 30 games you went to in your whole life is all the college football you've watched (btw, most people go to 30 games, give or take a couple, during their student years alone, so I hope that wasn't meant to give you any legitimacy). If you paid closer attention, you might realize that winning on the road in the big 10 is a challenge against almost everyone, let alone OSU. They weren't lining up a bunch of 2 stars against us.

    Does it mean we all need to sit around and assume we're going to get our ass kicked the rest of the season? You're being a complete dumb ass if you believe that.

  • We left some points on the field, all things that can be fixed, and because we saw that corrections were made throughout the year last year, I imagine we'll look at film, figure out where and why we screwed up and become better. It still is a work in progress, I like what I see. The complainers will complain, but really, which complainer on this board do you really respect as far as football knowledge? Let it go, it is what it is.

    We won, we're 4-1 with a huge huge game coming up in two weeks. Time to make some fixes and move on. Get healthy, get strong and get ready for four in a row.

    I wasn't on the board all day and finally come here to see this shit mess. Does anybody realize that we won in Columbus against the defending B10 champs, who returned 11 of 11 starters on defense? That our QB passed for 63% and 250 yards against that D? That our defense completely shut them down as they did to FAU and CMU?

  • I have stayed away from the board all day also. The reason being? I knew those who were underwhelmed by game would have threads thrown their way calling them out.

    how many games have you been to? 30 was a quick estimate. How many have you been to tough guy? I have been going to games since I was 7, when in grew up minutes from the stadium. I would bet y life unless you grew up in EL I have been to twice the games you have.
