Mounting a TV; I feel like I'm being taken.

60 inch Sharp led. $600 rotating mount because of the shape of our family room. Labor included at best buy. Now the technician says we need 2(25 ft) foot hdmi cables($100 ea) because he has to run it through the crawl space, and these are special cords that are building code compliant. Tried to sell me a $400 remote and re-routing fee to hide the directv receiver in the wall, but I declined. All in all, $800 to mount tv including mount. WTF???

I worked at Best Buy many moons ago. They prey on the stupid or lazy with deep pockets. It's in the training (not in so many words) If you want it done, reasonably right with some feeling of customer protection against shoddy work pay for it. If not, spend an hour researching and do it yourself for 1/8th the price.

The only thing special about those cords is that he is charging you about $95 too much per cord.

Monoprice is the place to go. Too bad you already bought the mount, or you could've gotten that at a fraction of the price on Monoprice.
And unless there's electrical wiring to be done, there are no code issues.

there would be a code for low voltage cable run in certain areas, and it has to do with the smoke creation rating of the sheathing on them and it only applies to cables run in return air plenums. outside of that? i call BS!

FWIW I've actually dumped HDMI cables in favor of component. I don't think the picture is better with your eye, and the cable connection would get crappy when everything heated up.
