My dad is officially senile.

  • Sparty Fan said...

At the ripe age of 62. Some highlights:
-Owns an awesome 70 inch TV, but is too cheap to buy the HD package on DirecTV.
-Is absolutely shocked about the election results, and the impending "fiscal cliff" debate.
-He thinks I earn too much money for a person under the age of 30.
-Believes television shows such as Hardcore Pawn and Storage Wars are 100% real and unscripted.
-Is undoubtedly a millionaire in terms of assets owned, but is still worried about his retirement and having enough to survive.

This is coming from a guy who has in the past acted much younger than his age. I'm interested, are all Baby Boomers you know beginning to become senile as well now? I'm thinking that its probably time to start stripping their power before they completely allow everything to go to shit.

    Your thread sucks, Nucky.

If your generation respected the Baby Boomers a whole lot more instead of being so self centered, our generation might not be so disdainful of your self-entitlement attitude.

What have you done to deserve my respect?

How does any of that make him senile? You should consider yourself lucky you got to spend the day with your old man.

Yeah I wish my dad wasnt such a selfish asshole, maybe we could then spend a holiday together. But I hate his fuckin guts and cant even be in the same room as him.

The Boomers accusing the next generation of acting entitled.

    That's fucking rich.

Got drafted and went to war. Worked 37 years paid property taxes so other peoples kids could go to school. Get 1100 dollars social security and never reached the point of not paying fica. I have small pension funded mostly by me. So tell me, great karnac, where I can sign up for those entitlements? You're a moron.

One more thing. One day you will reach the point I'm at and sooner than you think. That is a measure of satisfaction for me.

You grew up in the longest period of economic expansion in history. You were the happy inhabitants of a consumer wonderland. You could demand - and receive - a stable, middle-class wage, often without the benefits of a college education. Your pensions, even if only partially funded by your employer, were guaranteed. You borrowed and you borrowed and you borrowed, driving up the cost of housing such that the dream of home ownership is simply out of reach for many educated people of my generation. You will live into your 90s, bleed social security dry, resist any attempts to reform the system, and happily let the rest of us continue to pay into the program only to leave us with a steaming bag of shit when you finally do shuffle off. You are the first generation to cut taxes in a time of war. Your demands have left us with an exploded national debt, and your politics are petty and mean. You voted for Reagan and told us that greed was good. You down Viagra by the fistful and yet scream that gay people are the ones with the perversion.

You are kudzu. You are world-historical locusts. You swarmed the wheat, lovingly admired the sound of your wings as they beat against the stalk, and then moved on to the next field once the crops were dead. The road rose up to meet you, and you tore up the asphalt doing donuts, all the while bitching, moaning, and complaining.

This all doesn't describe you personally? Great. I'm glad to hear it. But it does describe many folks of your age. And the net result is that most people under 40 know with a dead certainty that the future will be worse than the past. And as far as I can tell, THAT kind of pessimism is unique in all of American history.

  • You, sir, get a down vote and a 'fuck you' for not understanding how lucky you are to even have your dad around. Forget about the fiscal cliff and enjoy your relationship!

Seriously how could that show possibly be interesting to anyone if it weren't scripted? It's still not interesting to me.

I could kick my dad's ass, so there's really no discipline going on anymore. It's pathetic to think that baby boomers are trying so hard to maintain control/power, and do absolutely nothing positive for later generations with it.

You are alive and live in freedom. I think that counts for something positive they did for us.

in this time of 1% interest you obviously don't understand cashflow. You should estimate long term nursing care expenses @ $10,000 per month. At that rate, $1 million does't go very far.

He has a 42" LCD with Comcast HD.

He is also not excited about the election.

He is not a millionaire, but his parents are (assets somewhere around $1.5 million) That will be split 3 ways among siblings. My youngest aunt is a cunt.

My dad is retired from the Navy.

He doesn't worry about my income. Just wants me to be happy.
