My msu.edu email address - It Gone!

  • boozhoo said...

    lol

I honestly can't believe so many people are so bent out of shape over a fucking email address. I quit using mine a few months after graduation 15 years ago and it hasn't hurt my "connection" to MSU, my ability to convey that connection to others, or in any other way diminished my feelings for MSU or my relationship with my alma mater. I don't think i've ever seen a bigger mountain made out of such a tiny little bump.

And comments like this are fucking appalling. a goddamned mod declaring the foundation of his very existence as a Spartan is an email address? I wish you would have gone to Michigan too. christ on a cracker people...have some perspective.

It seems that you are the one bent out of shape.

Any advice yet and the best route to take if enrolling in and then dropping a class?

I'm also interested in the answer to this question.

Any College of Engineering alumni still have their @egr.msu.edu e-mails? I can't even find a place to log into that thing, and it's been a few years since I did.

    Here you go.

can you change your profile user name (ie - email) on the RCMB? i didn't see the option in my profile view.

I bought some batteries, but they weren't included... so I had to buy them again. What do batteries run on?

  • Well I guess I better start transitioning now. Can't be using my msu email address as the corresponding author on any publications (you know, so people can correspond after my msu address is axed). Any suggestions for a professional sounding address that will show my affiliation with the university?

I'm thinking something like gogreen_spartyscienceyay_5438@hotmail.com That will look good right under the funding acknowledgments, won't it?

  • try username.msu.edu@gmail.com

    greenlib

  • Yeah, good idea. I'm going to see what the MSU grad school has to say. It's really a bad situation for students whose career and university are tired together, particularly researching students. it's going to sound pretty presumptuous when I send out a change-of-email note to the "big names" in the field that I've had the opportunity to meet/work with, but it would be worse to miss out on an opportunity in the future because I was out of contact.

Yes, just send me a PM with what you'd like it changed to.

    and?

Are you trying to change your username or the email address associated to your account? You can change the email address, but I think all user name changes have to go through Trevor. Click on "My Account" in the upper right. Within the Settings screen there should be 5 items in the sub-menu: Profile, Plans, Password, Signature, Message Settings. Click on "Plans" and you should be able to update your email address in there.

It would make a lot more sense if it was under Profile instead of Plans.

I just signed up for a free one with my first and last name and no numbers (kinda nice). I will for sure consider using that or gmail when my @MSU expires next May.

I can't think of one reason why this makes sense, but allowing the same sort of access in my current account is impossible.

  • Dear MSU Jackasses,

Thanks for closing my account. I just ran into another account that I forgot the password to, but don't often use. Just found out that I used my MSU account as my recovery e-mail for that password. Now I have to hope that they will let me unlock it somehow else.

What a cluster, you should be ashamed.

Are you sure it's already deactivated? They extended the original deadline until August 31.

Yeah, my bad, I just had the wrong password for the MSU account. None the less, this is the situation they're going to create in two weeks.

EDIT: Also, just noticed this gem in my inbox:

As you have heard, this @msu.edu email address will expire on August 31, 2012. According to our records here at University Advancement and the Alumni Association, this is the only email address we have on file for you. Make sure you don’t miss out on the @MSU e-newsletter, event invitations, special giveaways, and so much more by updating your email address today.

Stay connected, informed and engaged with Michigan State and Spartans everywhere by providing us your new email address.

lol, good luck. Perhaps you should talk to your inept IT department about not closing out your only form of communication to alumni.

Anyone figure out a way to reenroll and then cancel? I'm thinking of some type of lifetime learning route.

  • So what are the best options at this point?

The msuspartans email address looks decent, but if it's not an .edu it's worthless.

  • so the athletic department can figure out how to offer free or cheap email, but MSU's IT department can't? Seriously?confused

This makes the it decision as well as the msuaa for that matter look absolutely moronic... Am I surprised that Hollis runs something well while other MSU leaders let poor decisions ruin good things? Nope... Am I disappointed? Yep...

  • So I haven't checked out this thread since June....They said they were going to look at other options at that time, but haven't heard anything since.....

So that means they are going to do jack shit huh? Lazy fucks.

and not to happy with the alumni association, they should have done more. Wont be getting my new email.

Looks like I am going to have to try and remember everything I have linked to my msu.edu email in the next few days.
