NBC plans to cancel 30 Rock, Community and Parks and Rec...

You really should change the title of the thread. There are going to be at least 13 more episodes of each show. Saying that NBC is cancelling them implies that last night's season finales were the shows' final episodes.
Remind yourself. Nobody built like you, you design yourself.

So of the 4 Thursday night shows they are cancelling the 3 best ones and keeping the worst one. Fucking brilliant.
Pretty soon the only thing on network TV is going to be American Idol, Glee, Americas Got Talent, The Voice, The Bacholor/Bachelorette, Dancing with the Stars, etc. Then there's about 500 medical or crime dramas, which are all about the same. It's pretty obvious that most of the people that watch TV all watch the same types of shows, so it doesn't really matter which comedies you air, nobody is probably going to watch them anyway.
I will miss Ron Swanson dearly.

Never got into 30 Rock until it got into syndication (which seems to be the norm for me for most popular shows). Gotta say it is hilarious. But like another poster said, maybe it has run its course. I don't see the new episodes, so maybe they are lacking something. However it would have to be lacking a lot for NBC to drop it, either that or they are idiots.
Regardless, if they provide Katrina Bowden with a spin-off, or any other show, then they will have won.

If the shows still have legs don't be surprised to see TNT, USA or even AMC take a flyer on running an hour of original ensemble comedy.

The "stay or cancel" argument is actually pretty formulaic... when you consider the "art" side of television is completely independent of the "does it sell ads that make us money" side... its all about how much a show costs to produce vs. how much they can make off of advertisements (i.e. ratings) vs. how many viewers they should attract for the given time-slot

This. Based on NBC's numbers, none of these shows is exactly what I'd call a ratings success. "The Office" should have been put out to pasture following season five...maybe season four.

Also, Nick Offerman, the actor that plays Ron Swanson built that canoe. There is a Letterman clip out there where he talks about it.
