New MSU Hockey Jersey Design

  • What I don't get is how MSU/Hollis went away from the script. I know, I know, rebranding, re-fucking-branding.

    TA sums it up perfectly for all of us Spartan Hockey fans....

    "The script `Michigan State' logo was introduced in my freshman season [1980-81] and over the course of time, became one of the iconic jerseys in college hockey," said Anastos . "We will be bringing this design back on a limited basis, and will wear them for special events and for select games. Our players are really excited about it and we know that it resonates with so many of our alumni and fans."

    I'm sure they got plenty of flack for getting rid of the script and they should have.

    I always thought they should have a white hockey script jersey, a green hockey script jersey and a third jersey with the Spartan logo on it. This makes me happy because it's probably as close to that as we're going to get.

    The rebranding was important to get things more unified across the athletic department, but the new Hollis font Michigan State just didn't work on a hockey jersey. I'm glad they realized that.

  • I really don't know what to say that hasn't already been said, but they are just fucking beautiful. Can't wait till they put those vintage whites on sale, I'm getting that fo sho.

    They probably brought it back because Anastos asked for it.

    When they went away from it there was no one in the program or in the AD that had a connection to it, and it isn't like fans were showing up because of it.

    If someone who played under Bessone was hired as coach...I doubt you see it back. Maybe someone like that pushes for block
    Michigan State on them like they wore.

    I see it as MSU's "original 6" type of uniform. Maybe wear it against select historic opponents from the old CCHA once the Big Ten Hockey Conference starts.

I am sure some older folks can go well further back than that. But people talk about re-branding and what not and the script was the MSU hockey brand for 3 DECADES! I would prefer it if it was our only brand but given new circumstances, I am very pleased with these changes.

    Yeah, I don't get why they stuck with the black.

    So, we will have black, green, white, and bronze on the unis.

    Green pants would be the way to go. Oh well, at least we get the script back and with green pants.
