Next Year's DTs...

  • Just looking ahead, I think it sucks Hoover isn't going for his 6th year.

Right now, looks like Reynolds & Kittredge starting.

Back-ups: Brandon Clemons, David Fennel, Damon Knox, Mark Scarpinato. Denzel Drone has played there this year too.

MSU is looking like they want to add Peko + another JUCO DT, or the dream scenario of Peko + M Adams.

Experience and youth will be big next year, young guys will have to step it up.

Meh. Way too early to predict bigs. Kids are still growing etc. You never know who might step up to be the next Jerel.

That said, stock piling a couple of JUCO players wouldn't hurt.

Not saying they won't, just looking at the position. Heck, i feel better about the young guys than almost any JC we plug in.

  • I listened to Dantonio's show this week and he had LT on. He was adamant that Lawrence would (eventually) move back to DT. Said that was his calling card.

    Its five o'clock somewhere.

Could have sworn that's what he said. I was distracted with people in the car, but that's what I though I heard. Maybe someone else on here was listening to his show.

Why do you want Hoover back? Dude's been a liability all season. Don't even think he has one TFL.

Reynolds and Kittredge have been the best DTs all season. We'll need two other backups to step up next season. Drone can also be part of the rotation. Getting Peko in for spring practice would be nice.

I guess that's good....this whole fullback thing has been kind of a SNAFU for the most part. Plus he's sustained 2 concussions this season: one early and one in the middle of the season. I dunno, need a break from this team....don't even know if we win next week. Yep, it's that bad.

JUCO's appear to be a strong option for either side of the line at this point. KSU did okay up until today.

yeah...I gave you a +1 but it should be a +100....every single word is accurate. Well done.

Mixed feelings here zonk: I believe Rocky had a list of our jucos' the last 5 yrs.: just as many misses as hits: I know it's NOT the way Coach D' wants to build a program but at this point, what choice is there? We don't have to rely on these guys to start necessarily, but to build depth in that depleted D' line: hell even Saban takes them: I don't see the harm really.

How has he been a liability? And all season? Dude, he missed over half the season. When he play healthy, he plays very well.

Even IF what you say is true mental...and I respectfully disagree: he's solid vs. the run and has done NOTHING vs. the pass, the fact is that Hoover has just been hurt TOO much during his career. Good kid, wish him well but I think it's time.....I'm not dogging him or you, just the way I feel about it.

  • Would love to see MSU get a recruiting coordinator like Enos. Second... would love to see them land some earth mover's like Worthy (320 lbs plus). Frustrating watching a 230 lb RB on an island this season and lack of pass rush up the center unless it's from a blitz.

shit man, you know how much I sat in that stadium this year and thought how much we missed Worthy? Not JUST on defense with a push up the middle but as a LEADER. Serious lack of leadership on this team IMO....be worse if some of the juniors leave after the year: pretty crippling reallly.

Worthy was never 320. He was always in the ~300 range. You must be getting him confused with AR White or Antonio Jeremiah.

Worthy was up around 315 in 2010, I want to say 317 for some reason. He slimmed down to 305-310 last year and looks to be sub 300 in the NFL.

Kitteredge has been improving nicely all year I think, he and Reynolds will provide an experienced starting 2 at least. We will need Knox and Clemons to step up to provide depth and hopefully we get one of the JUCOs to come in and compete.

I'd think DT is a simple enough position that LT could learn it and give it a shot during the off-season pretty easily.

The LT question is a huge one. We have this huge talent, and have yet to really employ it.
