OT: Camping recommendations

Looking for a new place to try camping with the kids. I have a pop up camper I am going to bring. Looking for a place with a good lake/beach/playground for the kids, clean bathrooms, and also would like to be able to fish from a dock or land. We usually go to Wabasis Lake in Greenville and love it there but am thinking of expanding our horizons. Lastly, do not want to drive more than an hour. I live in G.Rapids. Suggestions anyone?

Too many rules here. Try any one of the dozen state campgrounds on Lake Michigan.

I would suggest Manistee State Park. Loved it there.

I'm looking for a place for camping too... I would prefer it always be sunny during the day and cool at night. No rain. Also when I go fishing I require a limit of whatever fish I am intending on catching. Lastly, please only list campgrounds where they will have an attendant in the bathrooms handing out mints. Thanks in advance.

On a lake with beaches and numerous areas to fish from shore. Tons of stuff for kids to do. Modern bathrooms with private showers. Terrible place to recommend to somebody looking for all that stuff.

Grew up there. Every fricken summer for 18 years. My parents are actually retired down in Florida in the same park as the former owners. I've heard they expanded it a bit since I've been there, but that was a fun place as a kid.
Now, I think I prefer having the big lake close by, or at least something with watersports on it. We usually go to Hardy Damn. There are 4 places on the river there that have great camping spots.
Doesn't Lincoln Lake meet all those critera too? Plus it's close to Greenville.
I have friends that go to Silver Lake all the time and love it.

Manistee National Forest- Lake Michigan Campground. No showers but who needs them with lake Michigan right outside your tent.

how long a trip? Weekend?
Cheesy but look into Tyler Creek is a decent weekend if you golf. Buddy of mine who live just South of GR went out there for a week ended up staying 3 weeks until his wife caught on that he liked the idea of golfing and camping.
Long trip? I still like Muskelunge State Park in the UP North of Newberry . The lake is nice and the Lake Superior beach is about 1/4 mile away with a foot path.

I second this. This is one of my favorite state parks thats not far north. Also we went camping/kayaking somewhere along the thornapple river when I was a kid.
