OT: Futurama

  • Who is a fan? I'm just discovering it now.

Not sure why it's taken me so long to appreciate the show, but it is really funny. A great simple pleasure.

I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this.

  • Just got done watching all 6 volumes on Netflix. Really good show, never got the respect it deserved.

You spend too much time in Wells lol

This has been on for like 10 years. Great show, nonetheless. I knew a kid in high school who was obese and took his shirt off in the summer, only to get burnt in about five minutes. Know what we called him? Zoidberg.

What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...

  • I forget who (maybe its Bender) but one of the writers for the show used to post on the old board and would fill everyone in on the Spartan references he put in the show... Wonder if he made it over???

  • Where the fuck were all you meatbags when I was working on the show, trying to get promoted to writer?

Glad people are discovering it now. I've always thought it was ridiculous that Fox chose to promote shows like "Family Guy" and "American Dad" over it. There were a lot of politics involved, Matt Groening had dissed the head of Fox back when he was a lowly P.A. The guy couldn't do anything about "The Simpsons," so it took it out on "Futurama." The show never got the time slot or the promotion it deserved.

  • Good show.

I'm not crazy about it but I'll occasionally record a few episodes or watch when I see it on.

  • Futurama is just a bit too smart to be appreciated by the lowest common denominator. Especially that of the normal FOX viewer. Anything above the poop and dick jokes of Family Guy usually doesn't get too much run.

There was en episode about Fry's dog. I challenge any pet owner not to shed a tear to that episode.

    Always Smooth.

You worked on it? That's pretty cool. Since you said you no longer work there, what do you think of the new run compared to when you were working on it?

agree with all. and having owned a dog, the Jurassic Bark episode was very sentimental.

  • Good show. It's been underrated by the public (not critics) the whole time it has been on. It was/is never as good as the Simpsons was at its height, but it never got as bad as the Simpsons got/is either. It does appeal to a little more intelligent, or at least educated crowd than most shows on tv. Some jokes reference somewhat advanced mathematics, and the show does cater to "nerd" culture. I know a lot of older people, at least in their 30's, who watch it regularly.

I know I did. I refuse to watch that episode when it comes on now.

It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.

During Professor Hidesaburo Ueno's life, Hachiko greeted him at the end of each day at Shibuya Station. The pair continued their daily routine until one, fateful day when Professor Ueno did not return. The professor had suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage and died, never returning to the train station where Hachikō was waiting. Every day for the next nine years, Hachiko waited at the train station and appeared precisely when the train was due at the station. After nine, long years Hachiko passed away as well; still waiting for his long, lost owner to return. http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=NeoRinTinTin Futurama 'Jurassic Bark' [Season 4 Episode 7 / s04e07] "I Will Wait For You" by Connie Francis
