  • Get one of those cheap metal sheds to put out behind your house. Then get some lye, anhydrous ammonia, iodine, red phosphorus, ephedrine, ether, Drano, brake fluid, lighter fluid, and hydrochloric acid. The rest is pure profit. The physically active part has more to do with the distribution of the product.

  • I do indoor soccer. I've never played soccer before I started. If you have a crappy league (thus skill level in general is low), it will definitely keep you active.

Indoor soccer is a blast, especially if you can find some cool people to play with. I've both the "relaxed co-ed league" and the "hyper-competitive ex-jock men's league" routes, and I'd recommend the co-ed league.

  • Since you're in Michigan, lots of ice rinks. Buy a pair of hockey skates, learn how to skate, then buy hockey gear and take learn to play classes. After that, join a beginners league.

Yeah, definitely fins the casual beer league. The ultra-competitive jock league gets old after a while.

The only issue with this is that it's soccer

  • I play soccer every Tuesday and pick-up hoops on Friday nights. You lose a lot of weight playing in 90 degree heat.

  • You could get going in cycling for under $1,000. Decent bike and rack, supplies, helmet, etc. They make biking shorts that look like normal shorts now so you dont have to look like Lance out there. Take your bike to a trail or metro park to get comfy on it before hitting the roads. Even then there are plenty of good biking trails in SE Michigan.

if you took one look at pictures from tRCMB tailgates, you would soon realize you were asking the wrong group of people..

that said, when I need a change of pace/scenery from running and cycling, I invent a circuit training course at a local park.. you don't need anything fancy or to spend any cash.. just go old skool like Rocky..

jog to a park - do 60 second bouts of sit-ups, push-ups, plyometric jumps, up/downs on a park bench, etc. with 30 second rest intervals - time will fly by and you'll realize how good of a workout it is after a short 20-25 minutes..

That's odd, I always imagined you'd be a fat hippie.

i think bob is the one person on this board whose physical description is the most mystifying.

sometimes i think hes is an older man, sitting on his computer for hours a day accumulating the cheetos on his fingers thinking of ways to piss people off.
other times he is a active male in his twenties who took his douchiness with him after college.
there are times when you sympathize with the man, when you realize he is just a guy trying to have fun on the internet. it is this version of bob that i like to imagine wearing a kimono or kaftan of some sorts, with a glow around his smiling face.
sometimes he is a middle aged lansing local, the type you see at sams club by himself.
    and sometimes he is black.

    mystifying.

So I'm 35'ish, couple kids, wife, girlfriend, make bank, etc. Your normal run-of-the-mill RCMB'er. My current hobbies are limited to jogging and making beer. Wanted to branch into another, phyical fitness focused hobby. Was thinking of road biking, but not sure I can pull off the outfits. I like hiking, but that isn't much of an option in SEMI. Maybe Yoga, just to stare at hot chicks, but it would get boring quickly. Any suggestions from the interesting folks on this board?

I like to picture him as a late 40's Eddie Haskell. I also like to think that he wears a jacket like the Fonz, not the leather one mind you but the early cream one. Once in a while i like to picture him at a Deep Purple concert and he is offering me a hit off his doobie. The people I am with are like " hey man be careful that dude may be a narc" I am like no way man that cat is cool.

    Oh yeah for the OP....................
