Saw that on the news last night, they said he passed away on a flight back from his vacation home in Thailand, sounds like Hockey was very good to him.

His interment will be in an old hockey bag?

Shame to hear. I didn't know him personally, but his store was legendary in Flint. RIP.

I dealt with him a couple of times on hockey purchases, great guy. RIP Mr. Perani.

Sad news. I knew Bob while I worked for the Flint Bulldogs. He was a good guy. Flint, I'm sure, will miss him.

Bobby Smith is my old man's best friend. Hell of a player back in the day (and still plays!).

I think I knew Bob as a goalie for the Saints of St Lawrence University back in the 1960's. Does anyone know it this is the same player? If it is he was a legend in the ECAC. Any info would be appreciated.

Since it turns out that I did know Bob as a Goalie at St Lawrence in the mid ‘60’s (I think ’65 or ’66) let me pass along my condolences to his family and share one of my favorite memories of him as a player. In that era Cornell was the ECAC powerhouse. They came to Canton to play the Saints at Appleton Arena one snowy winter night. Two nasty Cornell forwards tormented Bob all evening and as the game ended I noticed him drop his stick and glove on top of his net and begin a slow deliberate skate toward center ice. When he reached the first of his tormenters instead of a handshake he landed a solid punch to the head! The brawl was on! I was in a Psychology class with Bob the next morning. He was sporting an impressive cut above his eye complete with a dozen stitches. It never slowed him down…he was in the nets the next night. Rest in peace old friend!
