We are hyper sensitive to this topic because we both apparently have children that have been dx with Type 1 and constantly fight the misconception that it was the diet that caused the disease. This couldn't be further from the truth.
I have spent many hours in research updates for JDRF and while donating my time, dollars, and blood to programs like TrialNet whose goal it is to prevent and cure the disease. No offense, but I think I'm going to believe their findings instead of your babble.
I was careful about my comments until you insinuated that a poor diet also causes Type 1 and that is just false.

Autoimmune issues are exacerbated by shitty diet. Juvenile diabetes and the massive increase in type 1 that comes on later in life are different animals. Lots of people with type 2 develop type 1 due to prolonged insulin resistance and the pancreas eventually says f this I'm out.

Lol, diet makes everything worse, you're just sensitive that people think you're to blame even though I never said that. Autoimmune issues are up across the board.... You can believe its breeding, I will believe its diet.

Now you are being an ass. I've never thought that people think I'm too blame. My kid has never been more than the 15 percentile in weight and never ate poorly.
Diet is a huge problem in the world today and does make many matters worse ... however it doesn't cause autoimmune diseases or increase their number of diagnoses. It would be like saying that a poor diet increases the number of passing TDs in the NFL. There just is no scientific correlation. Sorry.

Nobody has said that. But hey, wanna make it worse, eat a bunch of saccharide riddled shit. You guys are hyper sensitive to this point and can't even rationalize. I never said diet CAUSES TYPE 1, I said it is the reason IT IS EXPLODING IN DIAGNOSIS.
but here is the deal. Imma take my healthy body, and healthy genes, and eat my low carb, gluten free, Paleo diet... And we can compare notes in about 80 years.

... and diet probably isn't even as important to control type 1 as most people think.
A good diet is important to everyone for numerous reasons. People with Type 1 can eat sugars (from cupcakes to fruit) just like everyone else, they just have to understand the amount of carbohydrates in every morsel of food and account for that either with a shot or an insulin pump.
The problem is that doing a shot or giving a bolus of insulin with a pump isn't perfect and will cause blood sugar levels to fluctuate due to the different timing of the carbs in different types of foods and accuracy of the guess of carbs.

I think you are painting Type 1 diabetics as nothing more than irresponsible people with shitty diets. Take your expert information from Web MD and shove it up your ass.
I am married to a Type 1 diabetic (diagnosed at 13) and I can tell you you have a lot of fucking nerve to give such casual opinions about something that doesn't directly affect your life.
I doubt you have any idea what it is like to have a disease that cannot be cured, only managed. So until that time, keep your textbook definitions to your fucking self.
Fucking asshole.

Most of my family has dealt with either type 1 or type 2, researching it for my personal health is how I came to form my opinions. Environment, largely diet based, is widely recognized as the primary factor behind the increase in occurrence and diagnosis.
I haven't once said a diet causes it, but the only other explanation is all these people getting it that has been suggested here is more fucked up genes.... I call bullshit on that. It's the triggers that cause genetic expression and diet is a major one. You get it from birth, but something has to turn it on. This is how auto immunities work.
And fuck you too

By "dealing with type 1 or type 2", I'm assuming that you say that because you don't understand the difference.
Stop making things up. Diet is NOT "widely recognized as the primary factor behind the increase in occurrence and diagnosis". Well, I take that back it may be ... Among the uneducated in trailer parks.
Again, it has nothing to due with it. Want another explanation? Obviously the increase in obesity would cause an increase in type 2 (and, again, I'm fully aware that obesity isn't the only cause of type 2). With that increase, the advancement of technology, and the increased awareness, it only makes since that there is an increase in diagnosis of type 1. It is just easier to make that diagnosis now. 30 years ago they were squeezing urine out of a diaper. Today it takes 5 seconds from a $20 meter bought at Walgreens ... And it is 100 times more accurate.
