This. It's usually on sale at QD, $10 for a 10 pack.

The best I have found is vanilla protein powder and blueberry Chobani.

    Post workout sure, but pre?

Yeah post. I would drink Grape Juice before workouts back then, that or even down some pure honey, like a couple table spoons. The energy from Honey s quick and once you get the blood flowing it kicks in quick, we also would do that before wrestling matches, because a lot of times we would be drained from cutting weight, and also had all day tournaments. And orange slices, even though we laugh about soccer halftimes are great, same as Pineapple.

i don't like supplements or those energy drinks, even if they aren't caffeine filled. Protein Drinks are ok, but a lot of the times they are high in fat, and IMO your body can only absorb so much protein and vitamins and the rest you piss out. A few years ago I had too much Iron in my blood and had to get it checked monthly until it leveled out. It turned out to be too much red meat. Short story we now eat Turkey Burger in Spaghetti, Taco's etc..

A healthy diet and sleep are the best and cannot be replaced by supplements. Yeah a daily multi vitamin is good to take to make sure you get everything you need but other then that your body creates enough. I have also finally because of low blood sugar issues started eating healthy snacks throughout they day. It really helps with the energy level. When I would only eat 3 meals I would get tired all the time. Now I will eat some peanut butter on crackers or cheese on crackers and i don't get that crash. And actually cutting a lot of the caffeine out helps, I probably drink a gallon of water a day though, if not more.

I go with what I feed my 3 year old a lot of times. He eats small meals and fruit constantly and he has more energy then anyone. When you think about it, we feed out kids the way we should eat and don't let them eat the unhealthy crap that we eat.

  • I drink Muscle Milk an hour before hockey.

I started when I first began playing and found it was trashing some of the muscles in my legs. I don't generally eat a high protein diet so I needed something. It is also nice because solid food is out of the question <3 hours before a game.

  • pre-workout i usually have a mixture of coconut oil, dates, and lemon juice. the coconut oil is most medium chain triglycerides which the body converts directly to energy without storing as fat first. the same is true of dates. their sugar is mostly glucose, which the liver doesn't need to process in order to build glycogen for your muscles. the lemon juice adds a brighter taste and helps combat metabolic acidosis. i also add some salt because i'm going to sweat some out.

The whole "pre workout" supplement depends a lot on what your goals are. Strength gain? Fat Loss? Building lean muscle?

If you are trying to lose fat, then you want your glycogen stores depleted so your body burns fat. If you are going for strength gain (bulking) then you should be eating as much as you can, etc.

I have been leaning out for a couple of months now using the following diet. (Only supplement is multi and protein powder)

6:30 AM 10 egg whites, 1/2 cup spinnach, 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
9:30 AM 1 greek yogurt, 1 scoop protein powder
12:30 PM 8 oz grilled chicken, 2 cups spinnach, 1/2 cup broccoli, 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
3:30 PM 1 packet tuna, 2 tbsp flaxseed oil
6:30 PM (post workout) 6 oz skim milk, 2 scoops protein powder, 1 greek yogurt, 2 Tbsp Coconut Oil
8:00 PM 1 multigrain wrap, either 4 oz chicken or 5 egg whites, 1/2 cup spinnach, 2 Tbsp Coconut Oil

I am down from 237 to 215 and have still been able to maintain or increase strength. I am probably around 7-8% bodyfat.

You cook your spinach in the olive oil or what?

you shouldn't be eating tuna every day, that's a lot of mercury to be taking in. Why not switch it out for some more eggwhites?

That's an insane diet, and if you're asking me, if you're eating the same thing every day, no matter how healthy, it's still probably bad for you. Props for being able to do something like that, if you're trying to make money using your physique then I understand, but otherwise I think that is a little much.

    Yep, sounds like it.
I like to think xplode helps build lean muscle, if for no other reason you're not supposed to eat for 2 hours before taking it lol

  • Careful with the Jack3d:

The FDA letters noted that DMAA is known to narrow the blood vessels and arteries, which can elevate blood pressure and may lead to cardiovascular events ranging from shortness of breath and tightening in the chest to heart attack. The agency has received 42 adverse event reports on products containing DMAA. While the complaints do not establish that DMAA was the cause of the incidents, some of the reports have included cardiac disorders, nervous system disorders, psychiatric disorders, and death....

    In another story:
The United States Army is investigating whether certain dietary supplements for athletes, available until recently at stores on military bases in the United States, may have played a role in the deaths of two soldiers.

Dietary supplements like Jack3d and OxyElite Pro were removed from military bases.
Both soldiers died last year after having heart attacks during fitness exercises, according to a spokesman for the Army’s assistant secretary of defense for health affairs.

(Both soldiers had DMAA, an ingredient in Jack3D in their bloodstream).

  • I take Scivation Xtend BCAA's. Half before, half during. It doesn't have all the stimulants that NO xplode, Jacked, or Superpump have so you don't really feel like your focus intensifies, but I do notice my actual muscles having more energy during exercise. I workout after work in the evenings and haven't had a problem falling asleep using xtend like I have the other three.

I used to eat way more tuna. I used to eat it two cans every day for several years straight. Now, I have a pouch everyday, but this time my diet is not going to be nearly as long term as it was before.

I was heavier than I wanted to be come the first of the year, so I kicked up my cardio and wasnt seeing the results I wanted, so I decided I was going to go on a strict diet and drop the weight quicker and then just watch it a little bit better so I dont get up to where I was.

Like I said, diet, supplements, etc is something I really enjoy studying. Especially the effects of sugar, insulin response, and different things like that. When I did bodybuilding shows, I knew that because I wasn't on anything, that my diet needed to be so much better than everyone elses to make up for it.

Here is a picture from a show I did a few years ago. I am 205 in the picture and that is after having dropped all my water. Today I am 217 down from just below 240 14 weeks ago.
