O/T tJYD is going vegan/vegetarianism/whatever its called.

  • tJYD said...

Yea, still cutting everything out but the fish and egg whites however. Again, health reasons, nothing more.

Listen, I'm a vegetarian and part of the reason I am is because of the treatment of animals, you don't have to justify it to me or put an addendum on everything.

All I'm saying is that you need to know what you are talking about because it's obvious to me you have a beginner's level brain attached to an advanced mouth and it makes us look bad.

Do vegans get their canine teeth filed down?

nono No, but only because swallowing part of the grit from the filed down bone powder would be considered as eating an animal byproduct.

I'm still baffled at the fact that you didn't know a fish is an animal.

    It stems from lent.

Wait, so can you even eat a plate of shrimp on your diet?

  • I could be a pescetarian without any problems. I would much rather have fish than steak.

God I miss it. One day I'll get back to eating some fish and shrimp, but right now I'm 2 years into being a veggie and i'm afraid a bite of shellfish will lead me to a week long coney and slider binge until I find myself in a gutter begging for koegels and wondering how I got to Detroit.

I'm Catholic, I get it, but diets aren't religion, and a fish is most definitely classified as an animal.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Fastest way to drop 8-10 pounds if ya need to.

Ok, serious question, do semi-vegetarians who "only eat fish" consider crab, shrimp, lobster, etc. to be fish?

    oh good lord...

You sound like my brother. All upset about the chemicals from the "agro-industrial complex"... But the moron will go out and drink the shittiest wine and smoke whatever weed he gets his hands on... meanwhile still has the worst cholesterol numbers in the family.

The impending crash of life expectancy be damned... I choose to eat eggs. If I don't make it as long as grandpa (87) when he ate steak and eggs for breakfast every morning with a screwdriver "wake-me-up", before he went to his job in "fords" with the nasty chemicals and asbestos everyday... then so be it.

I believe so. Usually it includes all seafood if the person enjoys the taste of sea bugs.

Everyone has their own reasons for eating whatever they eat, and if you're a pescetarian you've probably chosen that diet for health reasons, so yeah they usually do eat seafood as well. I mean, I think. I know one pesce-vegetarian and she eats seafood. Actually now I know two, JYD can we get a ruling?

Not to mention that if everyone at organic, there would be massive food shortages, famine and skyrocketing costs.

Your grandpa's food wasn't filled with crap like it is today, seriously.

I know a few pescatarians and all but 1 eats other seafood. The one who doesn't only likes the taste of certain fish and hates all other seafood so, of course, she is all agro about how pescatarians who eat seafood aren't "pure" like she is. blah

It isn't only for health reasons. I know some pescetarians that choose to be for other reasons. Basically they feel that if they could kill and cook the animal themselves, then they can eat it. Killing a pig, gutting it, and eating it? Not so much. Catching shrimp and steaming them? Okay.

Basically it comes down to animals that have features and those that don't. Fish and shellfish are perceived as soulless beings that are just there. Cows, Pigs and Chickens have eyes you can look into and can scream in pain. Not my viewpoint, but that is where they are coming from. The health benefits are an added bonus

AND the snobs would have to create some other label and penance to put on themselves to make them feel whatever special way they feel when they tell people they are "vegan"...

Yeah I know, that's why I qualified it. Some people just don't find fish 'cute' or don't believe that they feel pain so they're considered OK. Actually that 'reason' may be as common as the health reason, I don't know. Frankly I don't think they get to be in the club, because traveling abroad or just going out to eat in the US is a LOT easier for them lol.

The food is definitely better for you but its not like you're gaining super powers and the chemicals are well worth actually being able to feed way more people.

Maybe someone can answer my question, is it more environmentally sustainable to eat vegetarian? I've read it both ways so I'm curious.

    Calmer than you are
